My dress took a bit of a beating during our wedding. It was raining/snowing on the actual day (resulting in a wet hem), I carried it over to Europe all folded in a suitcase, and wore it twice (in Paris for photos, and during a second reception Germany). It got dragged out one final time back home again for another photoshoot (on a sunny day to get some of the photos we missed due to the rain. Again, it was dragged through the grass, etc. It was pretty dirty!
I knew I had to get it cleaned, and the sooner the better. However, I was pretty discouraged when I started looking around locally. I talked to a few drycleaners to get an idea of price, and they were all quoting a STARTING price of $125ish. For the most basic of dress, with no preservation and no storage box. I was hearing numbers of $250+ for gowns with any details, and then an extra $75 for an acid-free storage box, I was scared to know what the total cost would be and actually started to wonder if I should just leave the dress dirty.
ANYWAYS, I ended up discovering Affordable Wedding Dress Co. online, and decided to give it a try. The total cost was $150, including all shipping/insurance/cleaning/preservation/storage box. They only ship to the United States, but I’m lucky to have grandparents that live in the US. I got the dress back last week, and I’m SUPER happy. It looks great in the box, and they took a ton of care in packing it all up. It came in three boxes! A outside brown shipping box, a solid white box, and then the white window box. The whole process was quite quick also – maybe six weeks in total?
I decided to leave the dress in the box, so I haven’t taken it out and inspected it all. But from what I can see, it looks clean and nicely folded.
Here it is!
i really like how they nicely laid part of my veil over the top of the dress to show it off
And my dress in all its glory:
I hope this helps someone else solve there dress cleaning problems!
