So yesterday I went dress shopping (first time trying on dresses). I’ve recently lost 20kg (44 pounds) with a few more still to lose so I was apprehensive about what would look good on me (I’m a size 6-8 in US sizes now). I didn’t want anything poofy or blingy and wasn’t keen on strapless. (If a dress was strapless I wanted an illusion neck line added on.) It came down in the end to two dresses. The last dress I tried on at the second store I loved and I my plan was to go away and think about which of the two I wanted. Then I was told it was a trunk show dress and I had 20 minutes to decide whether I wanted it! (Something to tell me before I put a dress on I would have though!t).
I really struggle with making decisions but we decided to go with the dress in the end. I’ve posted the links to the two dresses below – would love to know people’s thoughts! I went with Mystique from Q’nique. The designer was there at the shop and was lovely too, not pushy at all. Wish I could say the same for the sales consultant who kept telling me I needed to wear bling and poof on my wedding day! I’m having my wedding at an English style house/gardens so I wanted something that went with that look. I don’t want to look ‘plain’ on the day but I tried on so many full lace gowns, sequins etc and I just did not feel like anything special or like ‘me’.

The other one I loved:

You made the right choice, very elegant!

I absolutely adore the second one. The first one seems like it will be unforgiving.

Yes, I agree the dress would be unforgiving. With my weight loss though I actually felt so good in it, no lumpy bits! I have an hourglass which I think the dress needs but I do want to lose a few more kgs still.

I think the one you picked is more timeless than the other one.

I love the one you bought and don’t care for the one with the tutu around the waist (That’s what it looks like to me). The one you bought it timeless, elegant and gorgeous!

I think the one you bought is very romantic. I like it a lot.
I hate that the salesperson was so pushy though. Even if the actual sample was leaving the store that day, there’s no reason you couldn’t order it later. You might lose the trunk show discount (but I would have pushed for it even later) but if being sure was worth it to you, you certainly should have been able to sleep on it.

I absolutely ADORE the one you bought!!

I really like the one you picked! While I like the second one I feel like peplum shirts, dresses, skirts, etc are really trendy right now and looking back at your photos years later I think the dress will look really dated.

@adoc86 oh I really glad you said that, I definitely do not want to look danip eventually! timeless is what I’m after 🙂 I think my Fiance will love the one I picked, anything that shows my figures is approved of, lol.
