I have struggled with my dress regret and questions since I bought my dress. I bought one dress at a store then a week later changed my order and I think I will like it but I just dont know. I tried on almost 100 dresses in 3 different cities but never fell in love with one honestly. I just thought several were ok/would do the job. Wedding dresses do not appeal to me. I think they all look the same in a way. No bride really looks unique! and the majority of weddings are honestly not unique. The one I bought is very simple and I can accessorize like I wanted but still I am wondering since I am like a size 2-4 and it is a ball gown will I look fat? Will the dress not flatter me? I am making a back up plan to order another dress I like off of Jcrew if my dress comes in and I dont like it. But then I lost a $1,000! I mean I can not get my money back now anyway but I am very scared and stressing constantly about how I will look in it. Do other brides experience this as well? Is it because I never fell in love with a dress that I am experiencing this? Is there a way to relieve my stress/worries?

I don’t think someone who is your size can ever look fat! If anything you can carry the ball gown look. if you want to be unique, then do it in the way you style your hair and the shoes you wear or your jewelry.

@Love1313: If you are worried about the ball gown being to poofy maybe have some tulle or whatever removed from underneath the dress.

My dress is 2-3 sizes too big, so even though I have it in the closet, alterations won’t be done until a couple of months before the wedding so I don’t REALLY know how it’s going to look on me. But you know what? Whenever I tell my guy “I hope you love the dress” his answer is always “Is the sun going to come up tomorrow?” It’s a dumb question because no matter what I’m wearing that day, he’s going to think I’m the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. I think we stress out a little too much about THE dress sometimes. Yes, we want to find THE dress and feel the most beautiful we have ever felt. I think there are probably tons of dresses that could fit that bill, and yours will be one of them. Once you get it, put it on, put on your accessories… you’ll see how awesome you look and know you made the right decision.

You are so right! I know it is so hard not to get wrapped up in all the wedding details and just remember what it is all about. I wanted a small intimate wedding of maybe 20 people but I am having a 150 person 15k wedding. I am so afraid for guests judgements about my dress and me. I am hoping I like my dress and I hope yours fits great too 🙂 I will post pictures once I get it!

@Love1313: You said you are worried the dress doesn’t flatter you. Why exactly is that? I know some dresses, especially the more form-fitting/mermaid styles, can highlight certain areas, but a ballgown/A- line in general is a flattering silhouette to all girls. A stock picture of your dress would be helpful in giving us an idea.
Also, you are a size 2-4? I don’t think a ballgown (or any gown for that matter) can make you look fat! 😉 This coming from a similar size girl who has a huge ballgown too! When else are you going to have the chance to wear a ballgown? Rock it! 🙂

It is the Wtoo Mimi gown. A lot of brides have worn it I know.
This stock picture has some of the tulle taken out. It is more poofy in person. I wanted mermaid because I am pretty fit because I have played soccer my whole life but then I put on a ball gown, my mom loved it, and I loved the idea of pockets. I originally wanted to look different than other brides too and the WTOO dress has been worn a lot! I actually bought this dress from Jim Hjelm Blush but after I got home I started to freak out about my boobs showing too much and stuff like that. The ivory of this fabric also looks a little yellow and I panicked about that. Also once I showed my dad he was not into it at all.
That makes me feel better than you have wearing a ball gown though. I have a very simple style and I struggled to find dresses that were toned down a bit. I am worried it wont be that flattering on me as something fitted. What does your dress look like?
