So, I’m browsing David’s Bridal’s website-looking at shoes. (I swear!). The bms are having a hard time agreeing on a shoe and my fsil is INSISTING they all match. I really don’t care, but she’s ADAMENT that all the bms have matching shoes. Whatever.
I see that stuff’s on sale. I love their sales. I bought my dress durring their $99 sale. I thought it would be a good dress that would let my veil speak for itself. It has no beading, embroidery, no lace, no nothing- just the pickups.
Now, I’ve never had a “dress” moment- I had my moment with my veil. My dress needs to be flattering on my body and flattering for my veil. This is my dress:
Them together, with a sash. I’m going to have the sash sewn in and the top folded-over “cuff” removed.
These are the dresses I’m thinking about replacing mine with:
A Vera Wang:
A David’s bridal trumpet:
I like my dress, but not any more then I like THESE dresses. I’m kind of indifferent to the whole thing. The only time I get that special feeling is when I put on my veil.
I know that I’ll look pretty no matter what-but would a trumpet be a better choice for my veil?
I’m just so confused-and 4 months from my wedding

Could a mod move this to Dresss please 😀

Wait, you only paid $100 for your dress? If so you totally owe it to yourself to try some more on if your displeased with it.

I am biased because my dress is the second dress you posted and I love it! The only thing i’m not sure about on your current dress is the neckline…
Here’s a picture of me in the second dress. It hasn’t been fitted yet, so this is it with the clamps, and it’s obviously still way too long for me. Just so you can see it on a real bride instead of the model.

@MissFireFlower: Have you tried a crinoline with your dress, that will give it more a wow factor.

omg your veil is stunning. your dress looks lovely with the veil. I don’t really think you need a different shape/dress, especially since you seem meh about the other options as well. If you need to feel good about your choice, just go try on a trumpet, bring your veil and see how you feel afterwards

I think the smooth trumpets would be nice to highlight the details on the veil – I feel like the pickups kind of distract from the ‘petals’

@MissFireFlower: Please don’t hate me, I really don’t like the pickups on your gowwhip paired with your veil. I feel as though the pickups take away from the detail of the veil. I LOVE the simplicity of the second dress you posted. I think paired with that gown, the veil will really stand out and create a major wow factor. I don’t like the Vera Wang dress because the back sheer corset peeking through looks like your underwear is showing.

If you have the budget for it I think you should try some more dresses on. I do think the others would go with your veil better than your current dress, plus it doesn’t sound like you particularily like your dress. You do have a beautiful veil though!

I’m going to try and get an appointment tomorrow and TAKE my veil with me. I’ll post pictures if I can.
I LOVE my dress without the veil: with the veil-I don’t know.
I think I need to see myself IN a dress with a mermaid shape before I choose.

Your current dress is fine, but I agree with PP that the veil and dress kind of compete. The dress looks vintagey and romantic, and the veil looks more modern. I especially like the last dress. You look like you could pull that off, and since you could probably get what you paid for out of the one you own, there’s NO reason not to. You haven’t sunk enough into this to feel like you should be settling, and if that’s how you feel, keep looking.

I just feel crazy. I’ve gon through 5 dresses already.
I’ve bought and sold each one for about what I’ve payed for it.
Who goes through 5 dresses? I’m a crazy lady :/

It’s a journey. As long as you’ve gotten your money back, I say no harm, no foul.
But if you sell the one you have, I’d make it a point to try on ALL the dresses. Once I had tried on about a million, I was reasonably sure that I could buy mine and that there wouldn’t be anything else out there. And it worked–the only ones I’ve found that I actually liked better would have required me to sell my car to afford.
