I chose my wedding dress in December and my mom generously put a rather large deposit down on it. I’m starting to have serious dress regret and I have a question.
We ordered the dress in mid-December and my wedding is not until late July 2011. Does anyone know if stores can cancel a dress order this far out and use my deposit toward a different dress?
I know I’ll have to call the store to find out their policy but I’m just wondering if anyone has any insight on this beforehand.
Thank you for your help!!

@penguini: I don’t know fully myself but I think I remember another bee have a similar situation and she was able to put her money towards another dress.

@penguini: Good luck! You may find the thread by searching on here, but it may take a while finding it. 😉

I too changed my mind about my dress after ordering and wanted to go with a different dress by the same designer. The salon would not refund any of my money. I had to purchase the original dress in full and am now stuck trying to sell it. Hopefully your salon is more helpful than mine was! Good luck.

@MrsMoksha: wow, I have a feeling that will end up being the case for me too. Thank you and good luck selling your dress!

I think it depends on if they placed the order for the dress or not. When I put a deposit on my dress the salon ordered it within the next couple of days. At that point the order could not be cancelled, and the salon wouldn’t have given me my money back. It all depends on their policies!
