First of all CONGRATS! I have been there and know how much work it is, great job! Will AA let you order a new style in your size, or just the same one? Because honestly, 50 pounds is a HUGE difference and you never know how new styles will look on you.

I lost about 40 lbs from junior to senior high school prom, and my dress style was TOTALLY different because I went from a size 14 to a size 6! I have gained a little bit since then and my wedding dress is a 12 (altered to be more like a 10) but the shape of my body is totally different. There is no way in hell I could have worn a trumpet style gown 3 years ago, but I gained weight in different places so it’s like a whole new body.

I vote for trying on some new dresses and seeing what has changed… hopefully AA will work with you through this. And remember what whatever happens, you are AWESOME and worked hard for it! Even if it causes some inconvenience now, you are gonna be smokin’ on your wedding day!

Do you have room in your budget to afford a second dress?  You could become a “two dress” bride and wear one for the ceremony and one for the reception.  Your original dress is beautiful (and looks comfortable).  Maybe, you could find a more form fitting dress for the ceremony (where you do not need to do a lot of sitting- or dancing) and then change into the more comfortable dress for the party part of the reception.

@Jenbee: I think trying on some new dresses is a great idea, you’ve definitely earned it! Who knows, maybe you’ll decide you still love the dress you already have. But I have a feeling you can probably rock a lot of styles now that you couldn’t before, and you should look into that before committing!

And I think a Maggie is a perfect idea. I never let myself try any of her dresses on because they cost my entire budget (literally, lol) but if we had done things differently and had a bigger wedding i would be ALL OVER the whole collection.

I say try on the dresses!  You DID lose 50 lbs!  You deserve to try on wedding dresses with your new body!  Don’t let a dress shop control you!  Go for it!

You do have more options-true.  But if you love this dress then you should go with it-it’s not like those other skinny girls look bad in it!  However, I do think that you deserve to check out some other dresses because you have done an amazing job losing weight (congrats) and I think it would be fair.  Will they let you order a different style from the designer since you paid for that or would you have to pay for a whole new dress?  I think you owe it to yourself to try on some other styles just for giggles.
