I think you can take it back, or buy a new one, no matter how pissed your mother will be. It’s YOUR wedding, not hers, and it’s YOUR man you want to wow, so no compromise on that!!! I myself tried on a dozen dresses today and everyone tells me different things and has different expectations from me. I will eventually choose what I like and feel comfortable with.

applepie15:  I thought it looked really pretty until I saw the pic of you in a tshirt and holy shit your body is amazing haha. It definately doesn’t show off your figure at all, it would need to be taken in every where and maybe altered into a sheath to be really flattering. If that’s not possibe I reckon sell it, yes it’s a crappy situation but you should love your dress. The only thing I would change about my wedding is the dress I settled for and I would hate for you to do the same

Everything but the high lace neck looks good to me maybe adding a belt to the center to help create a better wasit line in it. Is there a way you could have the lace neck removed? Check with alterations about customizing this dress and how much it would be to do that since its so simple you could make it into what you want and if you like certain aspects of it then highlight those. If it is just as expensive with all the alterations to customize it as it would be to buy a new dress then maybe go buy a new one? Maybe changing this one would make your mom happy and you would still get waht you want. Just a thought! good luck 🙂

Holy hourglass girl! You’re right, the dress as it is isn’t flattering. It could be with alterations you’ve discussed.

however, even with all that is at stake, and I don’t normally say this, you might not be happy until you get a dress that wows you.

normally I say FI’s who aren’t wowed can’t imagine the whole look, but in this case, your dress doesn’t fit you as it could and it’s definitely an issue. I hope your seamstress can alter it to work for you but if not, please do what makes you feel confident and excited.

applepie15:  I actually think the dress looks nice.. but you need to love love love it. Maybe wear your moms dress down the aisle and buy something you love for reception. Good luck

applepie15:  I like the dress, but I understand you aren’t in love with it. Have you considered a happy medium such as adding cap sleeves to it? Also, like previous posters have recommended, maybe alter the neckline and add a sash. I think you can make enough small changes to make you fall in love with it and keep your parents happy too. Let us know what you do bee, Goodluck!

Your dress is beautiful, and the neck is lovely. I think you are just stressed out. Not everyone has a “moment” when they find “the dress”. Could you get alterations and not ditch the dress entirely? That being said, it’s your wedding, and if you don’t feel good in your dress, you should go dress shopping again, maybe this time with your Fiance. Your mom will get over it and be happy for you on your wedding day.

You have a really tiny waist! Adding belt or a sash maybe would define your waistline better.

applepie15:  why did you let your mom pick YOUR dress out?  It’s your day?  Not a day for her to take charge purchasing or not purchasing the dress.  When my daughter got married I knew exactly what she was looking for, I called her and said get down to this bridal shop your dream dress is in the window and sure enough it was and she adored it from day one.

applepie15:  I don’t think it does anything for you.  A dress that many people seem to look great (that I almost bought) is Mori Lee 5108.  Low price point… you can find it for $650 and I found a girl selling her’s in my size for $270 worn once and beautiful condition.  I just couldn’t make a decision at the time.  I ended up spending way more on the the dress I picked, but the Mori Lee was a close second. You have to be happy with your choice.   It’s your day.  🙂

applepie15:  can you maybe alter it similar to this and possibly add a belt to bring more attention to your waistline? I think the dress is beautiful, but the neckline is not so flattering for your frame.
