I swore I wouldn’t regret buying my dress, and yet, here I am, crying because I’m worried I made the wrong decision.
Which of these two do you like better?
The first I said “yes” to but didn’t purchase at an appointment with family and friends around. When I went back to order it, I wasn’t as impressed. The second, I tried on with just my mom. I didn’t plan to buy a dress that day. It was the ONLY one I wanted to try on, but I loved it. She cried. I cried. My consultant cried. And I swear, half the store cried. I was totally confident paying that day. After it came in, I tried it on again, and although I like it, I’m just not sure. I have been looking back at my photos from the first trip and now I can’t stop thinking about the first dress. (mostly because it is a higher quality gown with beautiful lace)
#1 The mermaid isn’t quite as flattering in this one. I’m only 5’0” The pedestal I am standing on makes me look taller so it makes the dress look better. Cost $2200 (not including loss from purchasing the second)
Pros: My dream dress, soo elegant & BEAUTIFUL, beautiful lace and details, high quality
Cons: expensive, not sure how it will actually fit when it’s “mine” because I’m so short
Or #2 I don’t have the layer underneath to give it some flare, but this is without a pedestal. Cost $1000
Pros: much less expensive, floaty chiffon bottom, actual fit and length
Cons: lower quality lace and detailing

Honestly? You look amazing in both. If I had to pick, my choice would be #1. But number two is awesome also, but for different reasons.

I love the first one on you!

you look great in both but I prefer the first one !!

Ok, so I decided to switch my post a bit. I purchased the 2nd dress, so I added pros and cons for each and clues as to why I’m regretting my purchase.
I’m so glad you like the second. The lighting wasn’t nearly as “glamorous” so I was nervous it would look extra cheap in the photo by comparison.

They look so similar… You made the right choice by saving money since they both have the look you’re going for!

Your mum cried, you cried, AND the consultant cried??? Dude. You totally bought the right dress!!!!!

@Natto: lol! I keep telling myself that too.
@sleepyhead22: I keep thinking that I’ll feel great that day regardless of which I’m putting on, so I may as wel save a lot of $!

If it were between #1 and #2 and ALL things were equal, I’d choose #1.
That being said…you already purchased #2 AND it’s waaay less expensive AND the dresses are super similar anyway. There’s no reason to put yourself $1,000 in debt to buy a dress that’s twice as expensive and not even that different from the first. It’s not like you bought a mermaid style dress when your dream all along was a poufy ball gown, you know?

Honestly I like the one you purchased slightly more even with them being so similar.

@ClassyKate: Very good points!
@tksjewelry: Ah! yay 🙂 I’m so glad you said that. What do you like better? (It’ll help me feel more confident in my decision. lol)

The lace on the first dress has a slightly better look to it, but it’s not enough of a difference to justify the extra cost and money lost. You look amazing in the second one, don’t even give it another thought!

@OnceUponATime: It sounds odd, but at the top of the one you didnt buy it is slightly pointy and the second appears like a softer transition there. Also, I like the organza underlay slightly more than the lace of the first and I usually would vote for lace but not this time. After looking at them again, also not a fan of the sewn in belt of the first. I do love the buttons on the first, but shoot, you can add those to any dress if you really love them.

I really like the second one! The chiffon bottom is totally unique. Stop torturing yourself, you look gorgeous in dress 2!

ok the lace does look nicer on the first one upon closer inspection, but as a general first impression I’d say the 2nd one all the way! it flatters you much more, especially considering you’re not even standing on a pedestal in the photos!
