I purchased an A Line empire waist wedding dress in November 2012. I have now lost over 40 pounds and feel like I want a more fitting dress to show off my new figure. I originally bought the empire style to cover my stomach but now that im not so big, im second guessing my dress. I do love my dress but I tried on some mermaid and more form fitting styles and really liked the way they looked on me. I am just not sure what to do and its hard to see how my current dress looks on me now that it is 2 big. Any advice or thoughts?

Can you post a pic of you in your current dress?
Is it possible to see if your seamstress can make your gown into a more mermaid cut?

@Beasha: I bet a seamstress would be able to bring it in at the waist if you really love your dress and want to keep it.

@Beasha: Wow, this exact same thing happened to me (same type of dress and weight loss lol). I was actually considering keeping my original dress, but then found out that in order to alter it, I was going to have to spend quite a bit of money with no guarantee that I would even like the dress. Plus time was running out, so I couldn’t delay my decision. My Fiance convinced me to get the other dress, and I’m so happy I did. Fortunately, the second dress I found was at a small bridal boutique that was willing to take my old dress for credit on the new one (not the same store I originally purchased the first dress from). I ended up with a fitted lace dress, and I’m happy to say I have zero dress regret and I’m really looking forward to wearing it on my wedding day.

@housebee: I am more so leaning towards a new dress as well. One of the other dresses im looking at is also a fitted lace dress lol! Im suppose to take my dress into Davids Bridal in May to see if it even can be taken in as much as needed and they said they will let me exchange either way.

If you can exchange no problem, id totally do that and get one you love that shows off all the hard work you’ve done!!
