First dress: I loved how light and slimmint it was, was but my mom kept calling it a “mummy” dress and I got paranoid it wasn’t special enough for my wedding because of the lack of sparkle.

The dress I got married in: Lace, beads down the back, sparkle π

@mshappygolucky: I LOVE your new dress, it’s stunning. The slight shimmer is so pretty!
Given my family is Chinese, I knew that I would have some leeway to be a multiple dress bride…which, as it turned out, was the worst enabling factor in my dress journey. I started out fairly convinced I wanted to be a Vera bride. I didn’t even really look at any other designers, just went through the last few VW collections and picked out my favourites. After a battle between the Bouquet (too formal, too ‘mature’ according to my mom) and the Esther (too heavy for destination wedding) I finally pulled the trigger on the Georgina (not my photo):

After it arrived, I was disappointed. It didn’t fit properly (although that’s not the fault of the dress) and it just didn’t have the drama I envisioned. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a stunning gown and the quality is exquisite – but I realised that in my hearts of hearts, I really just wanted a ball gown. So, I started looking at ball gowns again. I chanced upon a sample of this Reem Acra Snowdrop and snapped it up.

But while it is incredibly pretty (and I’m wearing it for engagement photos), it didn’t have the sense of grandeur I wanted.
So, enter Winterhalter by Carolina Herrera. I had seen it months back, and dismissed it because it was a ball gown, and we were eradicating ball gowns, and also a fairly rare dress. Then, I saw it was available on POWD and sent a message through to the seller. She and I kind of just clicked, and two weeks later my dream dress made its way to me. I had my bridal moment when I put it on, heart thumping and tears and all.

my first was purchased for a wedding we rescheduled, it was lovely…but in the end wasn’t the lace dress I had truly wanted (but couldn’t afford). We had also changed our venue. That being said I pretty much got a similar shillouette…dropped waist ball gown but the elements of the two are completely different.
First was chiffon ruffled asymetrical (davinci 50082)

and the one I’m wering in a month and three days is all lace …dotted lace with gorgeous lace appliques overtop, eye lash lace around neckline plus much fuller on the bottom, it is seriously the dress of my dreams (also has a stright neckline versus the sweetheart of the last which literally swallowed me up)

no regrets other than I wish I would have just gone dress shopping ALONE to begin with. Loved the experience of having others there, and their input, but the truth of the matter is…I don’t let anyone pick the clothes I wear on a daily basis, why would I listen to anyone else when it comes to the gown i’m wearing on one of the biggest days of my life?! lol just my 2 cents π

@Dawn1234: Your second dress is utterly stunning. I always loved the top part of the your first dress, but wasn’t sure about the pick-ups. Love the new choice!

Old dress:

new dress:

I am totally a pnina bride at heart. My first dress made me break down in tears but i just couldnt swallow the price. My budget was $1500 and the dress was way over. I ended up canceling it and found a sample pnina in my budget. Im not a sample size girl but its motivation to lose some weight. I know these are terrible dresses to some people, but im not a traditional bride. I like being sexy and flashy. Our families know that and its just part of who i am π

Guilty! I had total dress regret π it was pretty stressful and I would have to agree with another Bee who said Sleep on it a couple of nights before you PUT DOWN A DEPOSIT, I wish I would have had that piece of advice and maybe I wouldnt have lost my deposit…argh!
First dress was mori lee 1855 loved the top but didnt love the bottom, although I tried really hard to convince myself I did =/

New dress mori lee 1862 Lace was what I originally fell in love with (Still needs some major alterations)

@heavenslight Thank you! Yes, unfortunately I did π I’m still really bummed about that, but am glad my Fiance pushed me to look for a dress I would be 100% happy with.
