Hay Bees! I’m feeling so discouraged and unsure and hoping I can get some opinions from you ladies. I bought this dress at DB about a month ago, but it just doesn’t make me happy. I have it hanging at my office so I see the garment bag every day and it never, ever excites me. I tried on about 15 or so gowns, all at DB, and it’s the only one I sort of liked. Now I’m wondering if “sort of liked” + actually able to zip up instead of having to imagine what it would look like fully on = me having jumped the gun and bought ‘not the one’. Has anybody had that feeling?
To add to that, it’s very snug, and I do need to lose weight to fit into it, but it’s a discontinued dress so I had to buy the sample and the consultant assured me that it fits me like a glove. A very tight glove that crushes my boobs. AND, there was a whole ordeal with the consultant cutting her finger and bleeding on my dress as she was bagging it up after I’d purchased it, so when I got home and noticed the blood, I took it back to the store. They refused to clean the whole gown, but cleaned the blood spot off. I wasn’t happy with that, but they were able to get a sample from another store to replace it. But now it just has that association.
So, there was one other dress that I tried on and liked, but it was out of my price range, and the bodice fit oddly, though I’m sure that had to do with it being too way too small. I’ve found a gown at Simply Bridal that I think I like, and is roughly the same shape as the dress I can’t afford, but since it’s an online company and everything is custom made, of course I can’t try it on beforehand. They do have a 30-day return policy, though.
I asked my consultant and my best friend which was more flattering, and they both chose the dress I bought, saying that the belt on the gown I can’t afford draws your eye straight across my body, but every time I look at my dress on me, my eyes go right to that diagonal line across my hips – I feel like all the attention is drawn to the widest part on me.
Gosh, I know I’m long-winded. Anyway, here’s the dress I bought:
And here’s the one with the wonky bodice:
And here’s the Simply Bridal dress I like:
What do y’all think I should do? Stick with what I have? Or do you see what I mean about the line across the hips? The Simply Bridal dress is only $215, and hopefully I’d be able to sell the one I bought, at least eventually. I paid $450, and would be ok if I got $200-300 back for it.
Thanks for listening to my rambling!! Am I going through the change into a bridezilla?? I don’t blame you if you skimmed. =D
