You should be in a dress that makes you feel beautiful. If this doesn’t do it for you, then seek something else please!

I am so sorry to hear about your health issues. I think the dress looks beautiful on you and my best friend wore this dress for her wedding in October and she got so many compliments on the dress. They put bra cups in hers so nothing would show in the back. I think the coloring in your photos might be off because hers was ivory too and the lace didn’t look that dark, so maybe it’s the pictures that are making you feel that way? But, with that being said, you deserve to feel beautiful and if this dress doesn’t do it for you, then maybe you should try again.  Good luck to you *hugs*

I think that if you don’t feel beautiful in your dress then there’s probably little people can say to help you. AND sometimes what we see when we look in the mirror just doesn’t match up to what others see. I think the dress looks very lovely on you, but what you feel is the most important. I hope you find something in your search.

As for DB…I went there for my first dress (similar story: price was right, felt I liked it best that day…wasn’t what I felt beautiful in in the long run) and was really unhappy with my experience…and obviously my dress! A smaller shop can give you a different experience that I think can make you feel differently about a dress.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I dont have a brain tumor but I was diagnoses with illness after buying my dress as well and it is terrifying. My suggestion is that when you are sick sometimes all you have are these little day to day wins. Your wedding is going ot be such a special moment after everything you have been through. Do whatever it takes to make you feel beautiful. I tried on lots of dresses in the $1000 range that were beautiful and better quality than Davids Bridal. MOri Lee, Essence of Australia, Stella York. Go have a special oment trying on dresses and find something beautiful.

That being said I used to model and did a trash the dress shoot with an 80$ dress from ebay that my photog bought and it was like 4 sizes too big and she safety pinned it down the back. In photos all white dresses look beautiful so if you decide to keeo your dress just make sure you have a good photographer.

Best of luck and g-d bless.

See if you can return it. It’s not bad, but if you don’t like it and it doesn’t make you feel beautiful, definitely return it. I’m not a big fan of how the lace tapers off and I don’t like the contrast of the yellowy lace over the white. I also think that the keyhole needs to be a little lower-cut in the back, because it cuts you off and looks kind of boxy. I am only saying this because it’s very obvious it’s not your dream dress. You don’t have to cry over your dress because it’s “the one” but you want something that you think is beautiful and not cheap-looking.

dizzybee130:  I think that’s the same dress as my dress, or else very similar! It was around $600 plus maybe $300 in alterations. I wasn’t too picky with the dress as I had a reception dress that I could swing dance in. I really liked the dress, but, like you, didn’t love it. I didn’t have a “this is my dress” moment. That being said, I’m happy with my choice.

I agree with PPs that, in your situation (while I haven’t been through anything like it), you should do whatever you need to do to feel beautiful on your wedding day. To me, the pictures you shared show me that you would look beautiful in the dress but alterations are needed. If altering the dress won’t “fix” it for your special day and you don’t think you’ll be happy, then find the dress that will!

Just for reference, here are a few pictures of my dress, altered to fit me! (To make it look good to me, we had to shorten the dress since I’m ony 5’4″, change the sash to a royal blue one, let it out a tiny bit since I gained a little weight from the time I bought it to alterations and add a few cups to the chest area. 🙂 Also, all bought all my undergarments for the dress separately/not at David’s Bridal.

Aw, thank you!

Sure! I decided not to have a slip or anything since the dress had enough material and I didn’t want to be too weighed down. I bought tan everything since white sometimes still comes through white.

I bought a tummy-tuck/thigh shaper from Macy’s: http://mcys.co/1A1iB0r. It was high-waisted but came up to just below the bottom of the key-hole on me. If you think it might be too high-waisted for you in the dress, this one looks similar but a little bit lower of a waistline: http://mcys.co/16Z1TEG. I highly suggest going to Macy’s and/or Nordstrom (or any other department store near you) and talking to someone in the lingerie department. Come ready knowing where the keyhole starts on your back so they can find the item that’s going to best shape your body and not extend past the keyhole.

As for the upper part… I actually just had two cups on each side put in with alterations and went braless! I needed a little help filling out the dress.  That being said, I looked at things like these before I had decided what I was doing:

  • Low back converter for a bra you like: http://bit.ly/1vHaWFU
  • Backless bra (Victoria’s Secret has some good ones, I think)

Hope that helps! Maybe some other bees with low-back or keyhole dresses can share what they did for bras in their dresses.

I think it looks great on you. After your year tho you deserve something you feel great in. I would recomment trying Fit Your World Bridal if you are going to keep looking. They make custom wedding dresses and you get to be part of the design process. You have control every step of the way. They are also very affordable (I spent $800 on my custom ball gown dress) The dress came in yesterday and it is AMAZING! They are located in Canada and do most of their business online from what I understand. Definately worth a look into. http://www.fityourworldbridal.com
