@RAWR.its.BREN: ever considered ordering a replica of the Oleg Cassini?  There ARE reputable replica companies out there and you could probably get that dress for around 300, possibly less.

You could either be a 2 dress bride, or sell the one you bought (if you got the Oleg or Oleg replica).

I say you have to try it on!

As for a replica, I think there are companies who would do well with replicating it if you decided to go that route and some I would steer clear of.

@RAWR.its.BREN: I totally understand! I never went because I planned to but then ended up ordering my dress online so I kinda feel the same way. If I didn’t hate those girls on SYTTD who have a dress already and go waste the sales staff’s time I would love to go dress shopping! LOL But in your case since you are actually looking to buy if you love it, I’d say go! You may end up hating it but you won’t know til you try!

I think most David’s have a wide range of sizes from what I have heard.

I tried it on and after many dresses it was the first dress that made me cry, it gave me my first “OMGoodness I really am a Bride” moment.  When I tried on a different dress, that I ordered, I knew that the other one mine was it.  BUT I did L-O-V-E the Oleg Cassini, I am curvey too, dress size 14 and I thought it was very flattering on me.  I’m 5’4 and with my 4 inch heels (yeah I am that girl) I wouldn’t even have needed it hemmed.  No train either so you wouldn’t need a bussle either (so you may save on alterations).

A bride also worn it on 4 Weddings and she look A-MAZING in it.  This is tough one for you, I know.  I say try it on!  Let us know what you decide.

I think the second OC dress would be stunning on you and really flattering. Please go and try it on! If you love it, you can sell the Maggie and get a pre-owned OC.

@RAWR Good luck!  I think you have the right attitude.  If the dress doesn’t work you still have a dress.  But, of course I hope the Oleg works out for you!

I felt awesome in my dress (like a princess!)  I had such anxiety about the way I was going to look, but I really felt great in it.  I felt such relief once I put everything on, I could finally stop worrying and enjoy my wedding.  Which was super fun (in Vegas!)  The dress travelled really well too.  I had it shoved into a garment bag and I didn’t even have to steam it when we got into town.

Going into the wedding dress shopping experience, I didn’t know what I wanted.  But, I always said no poofy princessy dresses.  But I just couldn’t deny myself!

Keep us posted about your appointment!

Thank you for the nice compliments @jo.lee

I tried it on.  It was pretty, definitely poofy but I was really really uncomfortable in it.  I didn’t like the way the bodice felt on, it seems kind of stiff to me and it made my chest kind of torpedo-ish.  And for reference, I’m a size 18.
