@MrsSparkman:  Wow I bought the same dress and you posted the same exact story of my dress troubles too! I posted a similar post about a month ago regarding the same dress regret bcs after purchasing the dress, I kept looking at the pics and disliking the shape more and more. I tried on a PLUS sized gown but getting a size 2. The consultant assured me it would fit like a fit and flare, but upon coming home, i realized that she had no idea what she was talking about and spent hours looking to rebuy another dress or figuring out if I can alter the shape of a dress to be tighter. Not only that, I loved the way the bust part fit on me but then realized I was trying on a plus-sized gown, so started wondering if the top portion would be too short for my bust once it is custom fitted to my height. Alas, I decided to just keep the dress and cross my fingers and hope that a seamstress can do some magic wonders to the dress. I am also thinking about cutting the layer underneath shorter to show more of the lace…and possssibly making the whole layer underneath tighter to make the overlay have more movement? I am a June bride too!!! But my dress won’t be coming in until January. PLEASE keep me posted on how your dress alterations turn out as I will be going through the same with you 🙂

Agreed with PP, alterations are the way to go. The dress is beautiful, but it should probably be taken in in the hip/butt area, which should be easy enough for anyone doing alterations.

You have given me hope! I too have a lace overlay dress that is not as fitted as I was hoping for.  I need to take my dress to get alterations done soon. I am still nervous!!! I bought the Alfred Angelo 801.

@MrsSparkman:  I went dressing shopping yesterday and fell in love with the lace and beading of this dress… but, I wanted it to be more fit and flare which I found in a different dress which did not have any beading!

I am so happy I found your post because i see that you felt the same way About the casablanca dresthe the alterations you posted look great but would you mind posting a picture of the back of the dress? I really would love to see how it turned out as it may help me pick my dress!

Thanks so much!

@PatientBride:  Hi there! I had the same issues with this Casablanca dress that Mrs Sparkman had and I also went ahead and had it altered so that it was more of a fit and flare! I also cut the underlayer train shorter to make the lace show through. I just got married a few weeks ago so don’t have the pictures back yet…but I did request a couple in advance for our thank you cards (as seen below)! If you would like to see more pictures, let me know and I can email them to you once the photos are ready!
