- Wedding: July 2012
I have been stressed out about other aspects of wedding planning but nothing has stressed me out so much as the dress.
First off, I’m getting married the first week of July and I don’t have a dress yet. Ugh! I’ve only just started looking. I HATE shopping. At this point I’m tempted to just buy a little white dress and call it a day but my Fiance doesn’t like short or tea length wedding dresses.
I went to AA and found a dress I really liked. I loved it when I was in the store, took pictures, etc. Then I came home and thought about it. And the dress is satin. In fact a lot of the dresses I’ve been looking at are satin. And I’m terrified I’m going to be miserable not just for the ceremony (outside) but the indoor reception as well because it will be too heavy.
I’m thinking of looking at David’s Bridal because they seem to have a lot of chiffon dresses and the like to see if I like anything in that type of material because I know it’s a lot cooler. I’ve heard awful things about DB though.
I don’t know if we would even have enough time at this point (less than 8 months) to order from a bridal salon. Also, I don’t know anything about which ones are any good. We have one in my area in Hingham and they listed the prices as starting at $1800 so that really turned me off. Our budget is $1000 but I would be willing to pay $1500 for a dream dress. I’m not going to pay more than $1500.
I’m sure others have been in worse situations but I feel like I don’t know what to do at this point.
