I like the trumpet better. The A line is a nice cut on you too, but I’m not a fan of the swishy organza skirt.

@Beeloved86:  I personally like the A-line. You are not gross at all. You have a normal body shape. I think mermaid dresses are more for girls who dont have curves, because a mermaid creates the illusion of curves. however, because you arent curve-less, the mermaid gives the illusion of a baby bump, and I truly do not mean that to be rude – simply being honest. The Aline is BEAUTIFUL on you! Please do not be offended. I am just trying to help

I love the A-line. From the way you talk about them, it sounds like you prefer the A-line, too. The mermaid is pretty, but the other one definitely has a more romantic feel (which I like). And A-lines are super flattering!

I believe that most brides actually do not have “The Moment” they find something that looks the best on them and is reasonably with their price range. No matter what other people say you should pick what makes you feel the best, because no matter what you will look beautiful on your wedding day and what really matters is the confidence you have and how you feel.

@Beeloved86:  First of all, you are not gross at all.  Our body types are pretty similiar except your boobs definitely look way better in the mermaid gown than mine.  Now to address your dilema:

1.)  Personally, I am leaning more towards the A-line on you.  It does look soft, sweet, lovely, and it sounds like you may be leaning more towards it because your sweetie might be more of a fan of the A-line, which I totally understand because my sweetie is particular too.

2.) But if you want jazz and pizzaz, I really do love the mermaid.  I tried it on today myself and I looooovvvveee it.  I paired mine with a sash and it is bling, fitted, sexy, and beautiful.  I’ve attached a picture below to give you an idea.

Sorry if the pic comes out huge.  But yeah, it’s really up to you.  Do you want softer, sweeter, more ball gown or do you want sexier more fitted mermaid.  But I like them both!

I think I am in the minority.  I dislike the A-Line very much.  It looks very young and “prom-y”.   I am bordering on actually saying I “hate” it.   Sorry.   YOu look amazing in the mermaid – once it is fitted to the right size.   Now for ordering two sizes too small – that is a bit of a concern – you don’t have much time before the wedding.

Just go back in and make an appointment with the same consultant and let her know what’s going on. you have six months to do an exchange as long as the dress hasn’t been altered. So I would hurry and go back in. Also just order your current size they can do alterations as far as two sizes down if need be.

I don’t know if people are being honest with you.  Yes, the a-line is more flattering to your body.  But the draping makes it look dated, and it’s done in a way that makes it look like it’s melting.  So In My Humble Opinion: an a-line shaped dress is more flattering for your body shape, but I don’t think THAT a-line is what you’re looking for.

The style of the mermaid is much more in line with the current trends, but I do agree that it hugs your shape a little funny.  So maybe you should try it on again with a tummy panel shapewear (i.e. spanx, flexees, etc) since you already bought the dress and see if it fits you better?  Or if you are dead set against it, try on other a-line dresses.

I think the A-line fits you way better than dress number 2. You seem more comfortable in dress 1. I think dress number 2 is pretty but personnally I find it too revealing.

Mermaid dresses, or dress that are tight through the hips, are all the rage right now, but more often than not, an A-line dress is more flattering to most figures. I think the A-line dress looks fantastic on you – very flattering. IMO, one shouldn’t sacrifice figure flattery for trends. You have a fantastic shape, and your figure (or losing weight) isn’t the issue. Your basic shape will be the same regardless of weight, and I think an A-line (whether it is the one pictured here or a different choice) will be more flattering.
