Hi – your pictures didn’t post.

But as a general comment, if your statement that, “I’m going to get really skinny and I want something that will really show how tiny my waist, belly, butt, and thighs are” means that you are planning to purchase a gown for a size that is substantially different than your current size, please bear in mind that some brides wind up frantically trying to alter a dress at the last minute because they are unable to reach their desired size.

Welcome to Weddingbee!

I think the dress sounds beautiful– can you post pics, or tell us what dress it is so we can Google it?  Might be easier to make suggestions that way.

Can the outer A-line layer be removed, so that it’s just the tight mermaid layer on the bottom?  I know my dress had several layers, and we could’ve removed the top one and been fine.

Don’t worry about your fiance/husband not wanting to touch you because of the fabric– my dress was embroidered tulle, and there were definitely no problems with him not wanting his hands on me *smile*

If looking ultra-sexy is important to you, could you buy a second reception or after-party dress, which shows off everything?  I’m more of a modest dresser, so I don’t have any inspiration pics to show you, but I know tons have been posted on the short dress threads and rehearsal dinner dress threads.  Perhaps have a look using the search function?

It really does sound nice, I’d love to see it.  Maybe you can just post a link to find it.  Or give us the style number and designer and we can google it.

Can you just cut/paste into box?

Anyway- even though I can’t see it- you can alter it to a mermaid if you wanted… going smaller is always possible.

Or, maybe you’re mom was picturing a more demure bride? Why not get a sexy reception dress instead?

Oh it is beautiful! How about this random option? I saw a bride who had a similar dress (cant’ remember where I saw it – sorry if it was one of the Bees!) But she wore the lace overlay for the ceremony and then removed it for the reception, and just wore the sexier, tighter dress for the reception with some type of sash to jazz it up. Would that even be an option with your dress?

What if you had the outer layer altered to fit snugly over the inner layer, so that the whole dress is a mermaid style, instead of the outer being more A line? I think it would be stunning. that way it wouldn’t be plain, it would still have the romantic lace, but it would have the silhouette you are looking for. I think that change coupled with the sweetheart neckline would bring you very close the the dress you’re dreaming of

i personally think that is a stunning dress. Its very classy and romantic. I definitely dont think the lace makes the dress look cheap by any means, As for wanting to look sexy I dnt really feel thats what this dress is trying to do. It seems to me that its more of a timeless elegant look but I find it stunning all the same

I think the dress is really pretty! You can have it altered though. Like, change the neck line to be more revealing, have it taken in so its tighter, stuff like that.
