My dress is finally bought and in alterations now, so this pic is BEFORE alterations. I have some questions. Should I tie the sash in the back, or the in front with the bow off center on my hip?
I’m considering tying it in the front and adding a large brooch in the center of the bow, but remain undecided at this point.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Please help!

I usually prefer ties in the back, but I think this dress would be super cute with your front tie (slightly off to one side)/brooch idea

I like the sash, but is there an option to do a slightly wider sash? And I like the brooch idea. But if you do that I’d tie it off to the side in the front.
Hope that helps!

CUTE DRESS! I think front and off center would be adorable.
But I’m biased because I did the same thing. (Tea length dress w/ black sash front/off to the side.)

BTW~ The sash is a dark purple, however you can not really tell from this photo.
@ KatNYC2011 Alas, the width of this sash was all my bridal store offered me. Being a large gal calls for more width…IMO. Perhaps I could search for a wider sash or have it embellished to make it appear wider.
@Theresa Thanks! Now I’ve gotta view pics of your dress!
Thanks for the feedback!

i definitely agree with a wider belt…search online. front with a brooch would look great!

@Lilacgal: Could you go to a craft store like Michael’s and see what they have in terms of ribbon sashes? You might be able to find a wider sash there that your alterations department would be willing to work with.
Very cute dress by the way.

@Lilacgal: Sure thing! Here are a couple. I got this sash at David’s Bridal…it was like $30 bucks, I think. It was really long so I was able to wrap it around twice to give it a wider look.

I voted other. I would tie it on the side and pin a brooch in the middle. As a plus size woman myself, I have found that tying a bow in the front draws attention to my tummy, and tying it in the back draws attention to the booty.
I also agree that you should go for a wider sash.

If you get a chance definatly go with a wider sash, it would look even better (and it already looks great). I love how happy you look in your picture! Yay you and your beautiful dress.

I think wider sash is the way to go and for the ends to reach the hem of your dress. I think I would tie it in the front too, I love that look!

I like front & side sashes… draws attention to your waist/bust area depending on the width.. and it looks gorgeous too!

I agree with a lot of the other PPs, tie it in the front and to the side. Centered in the front would look odd, and while tied in the back doesn’t look bad, it gives it a very child-like look. Having the bow in the front/side will give it just the right amount sophistication and oomph.
