I just recently tried a natural waist ball gown. At first I was adamant they would look bad on me because I’m super tall and I thought the bottom would be so huge compared to the top. But, I loved it. And if your waist is small it will really accentuate that. Unfortunately the sample was really big on me and the salon didn’t have clips (wtf) but when she held it on properly tight to me I was amazed at the waist it gave.

If you have a defined waist, then you can pull off almost any structured shape (bias cut dresses are best on slim, boyish figures).

Something with even a slightly dropped waistline will look best, though. It shows off your waist better than a natural waist ballgown will.

It sounds like we have similar shapes, though. I’m a 10-12 with a defined waist and plenty of T&A. I went with a ballgown with a slightly dropped waist (over a “comfortable” corset).
