Hi there,

My favorite bridal store in San Diego is Here Comes The Bride. When I went in I was pretty outright with them about my budget and they worked very hard to show me dresses in my budget, and they were so friendly! I really do recommend that one.

There’s another store that is just down the street from it- Bridal & Veil- and I really can’t say I recommend them. They would not let me take pictures of the dresses or even take the names of the dresses with me! I thought the shop was really dirty as well and just had a really unpleasant experience there, although they did have pretty low prices and a halfway decent selection of Pronovias, Maggie Sottero, and other designers.

I’ve also been to Bliss Bride in Del Mar (off Via de la Valle)- it was the first dress shop I went to- but their dresses tend to be a bit on the higher end and more $$$. I did not find anything there that I loved, but since it’s such a small shop they close off the whole store for you if you make an appointment in advance and give you a lot of attention. For me, it was a good way to try out different sihlouettes and find out what I like, since a lot of the dresses there tend to be simpler (I think it’s because it’s close to the beach? Beach brides usually get simpler dresses.)

There’s also a David’s Bridal in the Mission Valley mall (close to Here Comes The Bride) and you may want to check and see if the Saks Fifth Avenue in Fashion Valley (also very close) has wedding dresses and if they do, are any of them in the $1500 range.

I bought mine from Here Comes the Bride as well. I paid for it in full, so they didn’t charge tax. All together it was $1395. Good luck!

Hi ladies,

Is there a particular dress salon you recommend going to for my first go at dress shopping?  I have browsed through some magazines but am not sure what I want yet (all I know is that I do not want a big poofy dress b/c I am petite) so I’m looking for a place with some variety but that won’t break the bank.  Thanks!

Here Comes the Bride.  It is the most salon-like, private rooms…but the prices are not too high.  I went to 6 different places in San Diego so if you want more info, PM me.

(Bridals by Susanti in Escondido was also a little larger and more salon-like.)

I prefer non-squished places with decent sized rooms for changing, but I went to all kinds of places.

I got my dress and Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses at Tour of Elegance.  Saundra was fantastic and they only book 1 bride at a time.  (My budget was 2K and I spend around 1K).  Have fun!!

I recommend M Bridals in La Jolla, if only for the fun experience!  They are really nice but probably a bit above your price range (mine too!).  But it was fun to see the styles!

I loved Chez Bride Moderne in La Jolla. Our consultant Holly was extremely professional and sweet. My experience was amazing there…she left me try on so many dresses and did not pressure us at all. Fell in love with the dress of my dreams and that was that!!
