I went shopping by myself tons of times! I didnt find it weird at all. It was sometimes easier because you didnt have a lot of voices telling you their opinion.

I did I did!!! AND it was the best choice ever.
I had a really hard time with dress shopping because everyone was so opinionated, I actually bought a dress I hated.
but thankfully there ended up being a problem with it so they let me go pick out another one. That time, I went alone and I found the dress of my dreams and am in love. It’s the only way to know for sure that you’re getting what YOU want and YOU love, rather than what other people “expect” or “imagined you in”

@mayflowerbride13:  so true i fell in love with a few dresses when i went by my self. it was so much fun ans the salon has no one there so i really got catered to on a beautiful rainy day it was the best dress shopping experience ive had yet. and then i took my mother to see all the dresses i tried on she hated them ; ( you just cant win when you bring pp with you ; (

I took people because my mom woulda cried her eyes out if not, so I had to bring Maid/Matron of Honor to even out MOB, then the dress shop was near Future Mother-In-Law, so she came too… to be honest I didn’t really look to them for opinions during the process.  I came out and they oohed and aahed and I said what I liked and didn’t like, I totally could have done it by myself and made the same decision.  But I don’t regret going with family, you might regret not having that experience with your mom (I see that on SYTTD alot!)

The first time I took my mom, aunt and grandma. A couple of times I went by myself and when I found my dress I had a friend with me. I think it’s good to do both!

I only went dress shopping twice.  The first time I went.. I had two of my bridesmaids there and they were wonderful. Absolutely wonderful to take…. they paid attention to my reaction when I came out in each dress and thats what they based their choices on, oh and how the dress looked on me too of course.  BUT, I realized that because I’ve never tried on a ballgown before, I didn’t look comfortable in it at first, which is why they x’d that one out.  I went by myself after that… just to see how I would feel about wearing an unfamiliar dress without showing anyone first, and that’s when I found my dress, a ball gown.  I feel like although it’s great to have your friends there, it ultimately is up to you and how you feel in it and they really cant’ tell what’s going on in your head, so when I walked out in AWE of a style I may have looked dazed at first.

After I picked the ONE, I had a friend come with me the next day to show it to her and she LOVED it and said that she was glad I didn’t take their advice because the one I picked is THE ONE.  🙂

I went multiple times with my mom, moh, friends reltaives and everyone had a different opion and mine often got lost. I was in NY on vacation and decided what the hell i was buy myself and it was amazing. I was focused and not rushed it was great the first dress i tried on was the one exactly what i wanted. My consultant was vary kind even though i tried on like 10 dresses I higly reccomend trying it just once.

My first and last trips will be alone. I am non traditional, but even if I wanted to be a Disney princess, I know how too many voices at a time can drag you down. I love the idea of including the special people in my life for one or two tries, but I want to make sure I am hearing myself and not the consultant/family.

I bought the dress for my first wedding and my second (elopement) by myself both times. It was perfect. I prefer shopping alone anyway.

I’m going to NYC next week and was contemplating going to the Pronovias flagship store while he’s in his conference alone… I might just do it now after hearing of your experiences!

I always went on my own and actually loved most dresses I tried on. I almost cracked and let someone see my final 3, but eventually made the decision alone.

I wanted something I loved, something I felt comfortable wearing (not literally) and that was appropriate for the style of the wedding. If you start factoring in other peoples opinions it must be really hard.
