@noenyu: I just put a deposit on my gown today. I had not really shopped (2 trips total). I went first with my son and my mother (this is my 2nd wedding) and we only tried on one gown, the allure 8526 which is very popuar mermaid style ruched bodice simple gown.  It fit nicely and everyone said “oh yes it’s perfect, just perfect!”  But I didn’t buy it as my wedding is next January, so I just thought I’d wait till May or so.  Two weeks later I went with just my mom to a small shop nearby and tried on 4 gowns. The last was the La Sposa Fanal in Oyster. I put it on and actually sighed with relief. I knew this was a much better choice for me then the first one.  BUT again I didn’t put down a deposit.

Finally after looking for the last month at many other gowns (including used ones on preownedweddingdresses.com) I finally found the Winnie Couture line – similar to the others, but so much more couture, glamorous and romantic. I fell for the pix, and found a place with both the Ivalyn (the one I originally liked because it looked more like the other 2.) and the Kamilia. I called for an appointment and  I was suddenly nervous!  I wasn’t at the other fittings, just now!  Mom and I drove to the shop, I parked the car, and thought I might faint.  It didn’t look couture, or glamorous like Klinefelds But I thought, “I’m here… might as well”.  All I can say is I slipped into the Kamilia and i got goose bumps, I never felt so beautiful, so desirable, so perfect.  As an older bride let me tell you, I think you know when you have the right dress!  I couldn’t write the check fast enough! LOL

I think nerves are normal. This is a big day, a big purchase (no matter how much you spend) it’s your chance to express yourself in an amazing creation.  Believe me (I was married before) you’ll feel the same thing right before the wedding itself.  It will pass, breath deep and remember – “this is all about me!” =] You deserve it, relish the experience, don’t fear it.  Congratulations!!! go have fun!

Just enjoy it – if it just feels like dress shopping instead of DRESS SHOPPING (for a wedding dress) it will be a lot more fun. I lowered my expectations before I went. I kept saying “It’s okay if we don’t find it today.” “We’re just going to look.” And…my dress was the second dress I tried on. I of course tried on lots more, but none compared. Have fun! 🙂

Nerves are totally normal!  But take a big breath!  You have bunches of people to support you!

My first visit with my dream dress is in about three weeks.  I’m super excited because it’s coming with a trunk show, and the designer will be there!  Wow!  All my girls and my mom are going with me, so I know I’ll have lots of support, but I bet I’ll be nervous that day, too!

Don’t forget to have fun!

@noenyu: to be honest, I think I had finally bought into the whole idea of having a wedding. I was sort of going to please my mother, as the wedding is so far off, but this last time I had spent time looking for gowns a lot on the internet (thank goodness for the ladies of the hive shooting tons of candids – few of us look like the models who present these gowns) and I knew the two gowns I really wanted to try on were at the shop.  I didn’t cry, but I got goose bumps, and I think I was excited/nervous that this may be the last trip because it might be “the one”!

I actually feel relieved now, because it is puttting the whole thing in gear, and I can put deposits down and start getting excited – before this I was somewhat dreading the work involved.  But I got a phenomenal price on the gown, and I now have an extra thousand bucks for somehting else! Yeah!

I do believe the dress will find you. Just be open, and don’t buy anything until you know in your heart it’s the one –  My mom gasped and kept touching the dress… that’s when I knew for sure. =]

@noenyu: I felt anxious on the day of my first trip, in the first shop because the ladies were quite snotty and rergimental. But just enjoy it and relax.

@noenyu: Wow, you are so right! The second woman wears that dress much more beautifully and looks so sexy (in my opinion).  Just for laughs I am enclosing my shot of my dress at the bridal shop from HE** (check out the carpet!) =] too scarey for words!  But the dress is gorgeous, so I am smitten. I got it in pearl (almost white) and I am super stoked about it! I want to send this out to everyone I know even though my mom stinks at using her phone camera! You will enjoy shopping just bring loots of pix and whatever else you think will let them know what your dream will include – enjoy!!!
