I wasn’t anxious until I got in the store and was overwhelmed with the feeling that every dress was gorgeous and I was liking things that I told myself I definitely didn’t want. I think the thing you should keep in mind when you get into it is that #1: Not everyone has that feeling of “Ah hah! This is my dress” and that’s ok. #2. focus on how the dress makes you feel and choose the one that feels most like you.
I ended up going again by myself after I looked with my mom and some friends. This let me focus more on what I was thinking and feeling and I wasn’t worried about what they thought or letting them sway me. I’m so glad I did that or I’m sure I wouldn’t have found the dress I did and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Enjoy the day!

I just made an appointment about a minute ago and I felt it too! Especially because my mom is flying in from out of town to come shopping with me. That’s a lot of pressure to find a dress! I’ve been watching way too much Say Yes to the Dress, haha, it puts the pressure on!
@noenyu: Good luck with your shopping! Enjoy it, I’m sure you will have a great time.

I was so nervous at first too. I’m still in the process of looking myself. I was nervous at my first appointment but after I started trying on gowns, I totally relaxed and just had a great time, even though I didn’t find my dream gown that appointment.
Once you go through your first appointment, you’ll become familiar with the process. Just relax and smile. The right dress is out there for you.
Just a tip – if you have a specific budget – give it to the salesperson up front. I’d also recommend asking the price of each dress you try on as well. I had a saleslady sneak in a $500 (!!!) overbudget dress on me but I didn’t realize until I had tried it on. I was very depressed because it was like a dream dress for me. I still believe I’ll find something similar to it though, so I’ll keep my chin up. 🙂

So… I went dress shopping today! The first dress I tried on was the one! (First and only store too lol) I was so nervous but when I got there the owner greeted us, she was really nice, and we were luckily the only ones there (a little later another girl came but was in a different area) so it was very calming. My consultant was named Linda and she was super nice as well. I gave her some of the pictures I was thinking of and we talked about what I liked and what I was looking for (I’m a pretty easy shopper; I just wanted a dress that looked good and fit my budget, though my godmother surprised me and added to it, and I told her that she could feel free to pick whatever she thought might look good on me. The first dress she chose because it looked somewhat similar (same style/silhouette) to one I had picked out that they didn’t have. I loved it. I came out of the room to the main area and my mom started crying, my grandma loved it, my godmother loved it and so did my sisters. She picked out a veil similar to what I liked and it was just magical. I felt Beautiful.
I tried on other dresses after that because I didn’t want to just say yes to that one and then go home and feel like I didn’t look at all my options, but I knew that was the one. It just fit so perfectly and gave a great shape. All the other ones just didn’t look good or didn’t look and feel right.
I’m so happy I went. I just wish I didn’t have to take the dress off lol.
