- Wedding: April 2013
So, Fiance and I are having a super simple, low-key wedding in April. Today, we went to the bridal store to look at dresses and I ended up trying something on, loving it, and putting a deposit down on it. (I had no intention of trying something on, let alone buying anything).
I loved the personal attention (we were the only people in the whole shop) and the intimate experience of just having my Fiance there and that’s it. (We’re super non-traditional, so I don’t mind he’s seen the dress). I’ve watched bridal shows where girls bring their entire family and I never understood all of that – it’s just not something I wanted.
Anyway, I just got off the phone with my mom (who has NEVER expressed ANY interest in my wedding before) and I’m at a loss. I mentioned the dress when she asked what I did today and she said she was disappointed I got a dress because she thought she was going with me. (????)
I’m not a mind-reader… We NEVER once spoke about going dress shopping or anything of the sort. So, was it wrong of me to assume she didn’t care to go? I feel so, so bad now, even though there’s nothing I can do… I wish I would have known. She said she’s not mad, just disappointed… I think I’d be able to deal with mad better. Any thoughts or advice are welcome.
