- Wedding: June 2014
This weekend I went to San Francisco with my mom and my Maid/Matron of Honor. We had the best day… we got there early and had brunch, shopped, and then headed to two appointments.
The first appointment was… well, this is what happened. It was a nice place, mind you. We got there on time and our stylist was late. When she got there she looked aked who the bride was. I said ‘I am’, and she looked at my Maid/Matron of Honor who was sitting next to me and said, ‘I’m actually going to sit next to her’. My Maid/Matron of Honor moved, but it was awkward. She never introduced herself to my mom or Maid/Matron of Honor. Then she started checking her phone. She told us she was waiting to see if she got concert tickets for that night and continued to check her texts through the entire appointment.
Then she got down to asking what type of dress I like and I told her ‘strapless, specifically I love sweetheart, I like fit and flares, and I like lace and tulle, no satin.’ She then pulls some dresses and says ‘just try these on, trust me’. They have thick straps, are satin, are ball gowns… um, ok. So I walk out in one and ask my Maid/Matron of Honor and mom what they think. Both my mom and Maid/Matron of Honor are always so supportive and sweet, not super opinionated at all. After I ask them they say it looks nice, but I can tell they don’t love it (I don’t either!). I go back in the fitting room and the stylist says to them, “You need to remember that this is her experience and not yours.” Um, WTF! If I had know she said that I would have left right then.
I finish my appointment and leave disappointed. I didn’t try on a single dress I liked. We go to our next appointment and as soon as we walk in all I can see is GORGOUS lace fit and flare dresses everywhere! Awesome! The stylist comes over and introduces herself (to all three of us ). I tell her what I like and we start pulling dresses. I found THREE that I am in love with (one that the stylist pulled after actually listening to what I like).
I’m now torn between three dresses. I love them all for different reasons! Which one do you guys like?
The first dress is Pronocias Dietrich. I love the detail at the top with the feathers, lace, and sparkle. I think they play really well together.
The next dress is also Pronovias: Duende. Again with feathers and lace, but no sparkle. It has a much more dramatic mermaid bottom.
The third dress is by Martina Liana from Essence of Australia. It’s a gorgeous fit and flare with lace. No sparkle or feathers, but with an added belt it has just the right look. The raw edge at the top also has the same feel as the feathers.
So, ladies, what do you think? I love them all and can’t decide!
