I would check out House of Brides in the city. I mean, I honestly wouldn’t order from them, but they have a lot of designers and styles so its a good place to look.

I got my dress from Bella Bianca in Oak Brook Terrace.  (I went before the Chicago location opened)  They were so knowledgeable about the styles and designs, really paid attention to my reactions and allowed me plenty of time to think and talk about each dress away from the peanut gallery.  (I loved the feedack from my crew, but really wanted it to be my choice).  I also ended up getting the bridesmaid dresses there as they are so easy to work with and have a lot of great options.  Each time I was there I was so well taken care of, I felt like they really want my business.  I would also recommend the Chicago branch as my dress expert Candyce went to manage that brand new location.

I also had a great experience at Doris Bridal in Highwood.  Very knowledgeable about their lines, super friendly and supportive without being pushy.  I heard they are one of the best when it comes to alterations too.

Lasly, would recommend A L’Amour in Barrington.  I did not shop for my wedding dress here, but did look for bridesmaid dresses and the experience was great.  The brides I saw in there the few times I was there looked like they were having so much fun.

I am not sure of your budget, but I would say if you have a budget at or above $1200 you should be fine at these three places.
