Have an idea of what you like but don’t be so set on it that you don’t try on other things.  I think it’s sort of a bridal cliche but so many people seem to fall in love with one particular style before they start trying on dresses and end up with something completely different.  For instance, I was dead set on having a v-neck, a-line, all lace dress and ended up with a strapless, natural waisted, almost ball gown skirt.

Also, wear a strapless bra and full coverage undies or spanx.

Definately agree on the full coverage undergarments 🙂

Be open to different styles…don’t judge a dress by how it looks on the hanger, they look completely different when tried on!

Be open and honest with your sales consultant about what you like and don’t like about each dress you try on- help them help you.

Be mindful of how many people you bring with you to shop. You want to be surrounded by people who respect your budget and tastes and can offer constructive advice/critique.

Finally- have fun!! You’re trying on wedding dresses!!

bring water and a snack for in between appointments. don’t forget your camera! sneak pictures if they say they’re not allowed.

do your hair and makeup. you’ll feel better about yourself if you spend some time getting ready.

try on dresses they recommend, even if it’s out of your comfort zone!

most importantly, wear a good bra and granny panties.

oh and stick to your budget. tell your consultant at the very beginning of the appointment, and do not try on any dresses above your budget. doing so will only lead to heartache.

I sneak deodorant in my purse. It gets hot putting dresses on and off, it’s good to freshen up!
