I actually went alone for my first fitting. I am so stubborn and I knew my mom would make get something I didnt want, and they say its bad to bring friends b/c they might tell you a dress is nice even though they hate it just to be nice.
I ended up bringing my mom at my 2nd fitting, and she LOVED the dress.
I think when youre just looking, its good to go alone, But when youve decided on 1, 2, 3 dresses thats when you bring someone.
I rather not have a lot of people come with me, as Id like my dress to be a surprise for everyone, I find women spoil surprises and take pics and show everyone too quickly.

Just my mom and my Maid/Matron of Honor. I was nervous and didn’t want too many people’s opinions. It was perfect.

1st trip: mom
2nd trip: mom, bm #1
3rd trip: mom, bm #1, sil (brother’s wife)
4th trip: mom, bm #1, bm #2, fmil
I must say, 4 people on the 4th trip was too much for me.

The first time, my Maid/Matron of Honor, the second time, when I had narrowed it down to two and was ready to pull the trigger on one, I brought my husband. We had moved across the state between those two trips, and my Maid/Matron of Honor had a crazy school and work schedule and couldn’t make the trip. I would have loved to have had my mother there, but she lives across the country and couldn’t afford the plane trip twice in such a short amount of time (once for the dress, the second for the wedding two months later).

When I went home for a visit in November was my first and only dress shopping trip. I even only went to one store and took my dress home.
I took my mom, step mom, grandma and my 2 sisters/bm’s.
I figured I’d be going more than once and it was my only opportunity to bring these ladies, so I’m sure glad they were there. It was a lot of fun!

I took my mom, sister and 2 bridesmaids. When I go for my fittings it’ll by my mom, Maid/Matron of Honor, Future Mother-In-Law and step-grandma

Just my mom. She was the only person who saw my dress before the morning of the wedding, and it was like a fun little secret between us.

I took my SIL. We’re friendly but not super close so I knew she wouldn’t be “too vocal” like my aunt and cousins would be, lol. I didn’t end up buying anything so next time I go maybe I’ll bring my honest (AKA loudmouthed) family.

My mom, grandma, Future Mother-In-Law, FGMIL, big sis, cousin (both BM) and 2 aunts. 😀 We were those people who go in a pack. But they are all super supportive which is what made it work. They wanted what I wanted most and what would make me happy. That is the key no matter how many or few people you bring. They have to be honest with you but supportive.

Just my mom and my aunt. My aunt got remarried when I was 16 and my mom and I got to go dress shopping with her. She made me promise then that she’d get to come with me! We had a blast.

I brought my mom and two sister, 18 and 15… Intrestingly enough imy 15 year old sister said nothing the whole time besides “thats pretty” So by the end of the day I was so overwhelmed and just seeing everything as a big white dress that when I put one on my 15 year old stood up put her hands over her mouth and said “omg thats it!” and I bought that dress, months later I am still in love with it and am very thankful I brought her along!

I took my mom, my moh (and sister) and a bm (who is also a sister). We had a lot of fun. I chose my dress that day, and my sister (and moh) was able to learn the correct way to button the dress. After shopping we all went out to lunch together. It was a great bonding experience.

I took my mom, my aunt (mom’s sister), and my Maid/Matron of Honor. They are the only ones I trust to tell me the truth and I knew that they would not be overbearing or trying to make the decision for me. That was the perfect group for me.

1st trip: with my fiance to figure out styles he’d like to see on me
2nd trip: by myself–I had just moved a few months ago away from all my friends/family. I didn’t like the feeling at all when the consultant asked me where my mom/friends were. She made me feel like I was doing it wrong or that she wasn’t taking me seriously.
3rd trip: mom and Maid/Matron of Honor
4th trip: mom, Maid/Matron of Honor, friend/co-worker, male friend who asked to tag along
5th trip: by myself (and also happened to be when i found the dress i liked)
6th/7th/8th trip: my friend/co-worker, Maid/Matron of Honor (mom was at work)
10th trip: with my mom back to the same 5th store to “approve” the dress.
Initially, I wanted to sort of pick on my own–I’m much better at shopping alone most of the time because I hate that feeling of pressure from everyone else, but since this is my mom’s first wedding among my siblings and my MOH’s first bigger wedding, I didn’t want to take that experience away from them.
