Doing some research for a friend who just got engaged – yay! She’d like to go dress shopping at places where she can take photos in case she decides to get the dress made instead of buying one. Did anyone go to places that allow that besides Weddings 826?
I did my dress shopping in my hometown in CA so I don’t have good insights for her.
Thank you so much!

@LotsOfBMResearchToDo: I had a great experience at BHLDN. My friends could take photos, and we all had champagne!!

Mira Couture and Nordstrom Wedding Suite (Michigan Ave) both allow pictures. They also both have dresses out on the floor so you can go through and pick out what you’d like to try on.
If you really need pictures, I’ve found that the places out in the suburbs are way more likely to let you take photos than salons in Chicago. Never hurts to ask though when you make an appointment!

David’s Bridal in the city also allows photos. I went there first because they have such a large selection and I thought it was a good place to start and see what suited me. Then I went to Mira and Nordstrom to shop more seriously — I appreciated that I could browse and pick dresses myself and take photos. Dimitra’s Bridal downtown does not allow photos and also has very few dresses on the floor, so you need to rely on the consultant to pick dresses for you from the back stockroom.

@spring-bride: I went to Dimitra’s too! No photos, and I felt like they weren’t even listening to me. Felt very rushed, with a buy-it-now or go attitude.

I had wonderful experiences at BHLDN, Nordstrom, and Nicole Miller (where I got my dress).
