I felt that way a couple years ago for my sister’s wedding getting my dress. I don’t remember the numbers, I remember the shock. I think I was a 10/12 street and an 18 dress. You need to get over it quick, dress sizes are super odd and they’re going to take it in anyways! Don’t think of that silly number, it really means nothing. As long as you like how the dress looks on you 🙂

I’m a street size 6/8 and my wedding dress is a 14!! I probably could have gone with the 12 but I was in between sizes and was terrified the 12 would be too small in the rib area. It sucks, but you just have to remind yourself that bridal sizes don’t mean much

Yeah, I’m a size 0-2 American, but I had to buy a British size 8 for my dress. They’re just numbers.

Do not even stress.  My dress was 3 sizes bigger than my street size.  One of my bridesmaids wears a size 8 and they made her order an 18.  Knowledge is power.  Just know that this is how it is, it’s just a number and it doesn’t matter!!!  Don’t give them the power of making you sad.

@Bunny_the_Bride:  i’m a 0 in most american stores, 2 and sometimes 4 in designer clothes.

when i went dress shopping, the first place measured me as an 8.

the second place where i ordered my dress from measured me as a 4-6-8 in different spot and ordered a 6.

its just a number, does it really matter?

if you want to feel better, go to Kohls, their stuff is cut huge.

@Bunny_the_Bride:  Not all dresses are cut the same either, depends on what pattern sizing they’re using. A size 2 wedding dress that’s not “designer” could very well be a size 2, not a size 00.

Numbers don’t mean a thing in wedding gowns… I wear a 0 or a 2 (depending on the brand) and I ordered a 10. We did this because I’m tall enough that the 10 had better proportions for my 5’9 frame.

No one will know the size but you and your consultant, so cut yourself some slack.. and cut the size tag out of your dress 🙂

Yes, ignore the number and cut that tag! The number means nothing. It’s all relative.
