it sounds like it should work, worst case scenario you may be able to get it altered, im no pro but in my opinion it sounds like the dress should still work for you. just tie it up tight!

As long as you make sure you go to a good seamstress, it should work. I looked at the pic and based on where the buttons are located, a corset style lace up thing should work fine there. The same thing happened to me when my dress came in, but it already had a lace-up back. I still ended up getting it altered and it looks fabulous now. I know how worrisome that can be though!

You’re not too far off from the measurements.  The 0.5 inches in the bust might mean you could get away without a bra and the dress will be fitted enough to stay up.  If it’s too tight, you might fit just by letting out the seams (there’s usually a little extra fabric in there).

As for the 3 inches in the waist- you’ll probably be able to get an extra 0.5-1 inch from letting out the seams.  Then, perhaps a nice long-line bra might be able to cinch you in a little bit in the waist.  You’d be surprised what a big difference good foundation garments can make!

So before you stress or have a seamstress remake the back of the dress, try finding a good long-line bra or a waist cincher (something like this: http://www.herroom.com/Rago-824-Lacette-Waist-Cincher.shtml).
