(Closed) Dress sizing – alterations – big changes?

@abigailelizabeth919:  From what I understand, wedding dresses can be comfortably altered about 2-4 dress sizes without too much problem, but that as you increase in number of dress sizes to alter, it becomes more of a reconstruction of the dress (and can get quite costly).  But mostly, I’m just bumping this thread in hopes that you’ll get more help! 🙂  Good luck!

It significantly changed the dress in my situation…I ordered the recommended dress size for my measurements, but when I tried it on, it was at LEAST 2 sizes too big and practically hanging off me.  The bust had to be taken in several inches, and since the back was really low cut, the seamstress ended up having to cut part of the side out of my dress, which made it look weird and angular.  However, if it hadn’t been for that dramatic low back, the alterations would have been fine.  Just double check with the seamstress BEFORE you okay any changes that she suggests!
