I’m trying to figure this out too.  We are driving to Wisconsin for our wedding with 3 dogs.  We have a mini van, so I will do my best to keep it from away from them.

I found a dry cleaner with great reviews that will steam it for me.  I can drop it off in the morning and it will be ready by the afternoon.

I am thinking I can drape it over  the seat.  It’s going to get wrinkled aways since I’m getting dressed and riding over to our venue.

I was told, and will be following this schedule.. drop it off one week prior, pick it up 2 days before the wedding. So for me, our wedding is Saturday..I will drop my gown on Saturday or Monday prior, and pick it up Thursday. Since it cant go back in the bag, I am bringing it to work to hang it from the ceiling in one of my barely used offices, and picking it up on my way to the venue the morning of the wedding. We are getting dressed at the venue, and I will have a house full of family, so this works out perfect.

@Leeluu: my alts gal said after its steamed, it cant go back in the bag.. other then the few mins to transport it from bridal shop to its destination. Thats why I am bringing mine to work to hang it for 2 days. If I do that at home, FH will see it for sure and Ill be terrified someone will even so much as breathe near it LOL  I was told its also OK to put it in the bag for a bit to get it from your home (or wherever its hanging) to the venue. With me swinging by work to pick up my gown on the way to the wedding, she will definately go in the bag to transport her to the location.

As for your situation.. if you steam it closer to your home, do you have somewhere that it can hang, out of the bag, for the 2 days before your wedding? Otherwise, the place closer to your hotel is good idea. Just plan to pick it up the day before the wedding, and maybe call them 2 days prior to make sure its done, or go look at it for yourself.

Trust me, Im OCD..these are the tiny little details that drive me bonkers worrying they wont work out!

@Leeluu:  since FH and I will be having a house full, we are taking both our trucks and meeting at the venue (keep in mind we will both be in the same house all morning but he will NOT see me once I take a shower to start getting ready..gonna be fun lol). FH will be taking my brother, and 2 groomsmen (my sons) in his truck to the venue, then I will be taking our Excursion with me, my mom, my Maid/Matron of Honor, my sis and my daughter..and then our three, yes THREE dogs in the back. I am going right past my work, (thats why I decided to leave my gown hanging there for 2 days) so I will grab my gown, put it in the bag, and lay it across the laps of the gals on the back seat. We are only 40 mins away from the venue. I am also lucky in that the top of my gown is all lace and beads, and the skirt is organza ruffles, so it really doesnt need steamed, but ill do it anyway just for the pouf, and even with going in the bag she should be fine.
