I’m having some major dress-stress and would really appreciate your feedback! I thought I had narrowed down my dress search to two top contenders, but when I went back to the store this weekend I realized that the dresses didn’t give me the “feeling.” I like both dresses and how I look in them well enough, but I don’t get butterflies/tingly/emotional when I’m wearing them. I haven’t had this feeling with ANY dress (and I’ve tried on a ton!). I’ve heard from almost everyone that they just *knew* when they found THE dress. Have you ladies all felt this, or did you end up going with a dress that you liked without “the feeling”? I have plenty of time, I think (9 months), so I can continue looking, but I just wonder if I should keep looking until I find one that makes me feel THAT way, or maybe I should just stop stressing about it and get the one I like the best, even if I don’t feel ultra-special and emotional in it? Am I thinking way too much about this??
Sorry this is getting sooo long, but related to my frustration with the dress search, there are a few places in the LA area that will make a dress for you, but it’s technically a “rental” — you return it when you’re done, and prices are equal to or less than what I’m looking to spend on buying a dress. They custom-fit and alter everything, so even if a dress is not your size they’ll make it your size! I’m considering just having a rental dress custom-made because 1. I’m getting frustrated with my dress search, and 2. I don’t know how easy it will be to re-sell my wedding dress. I’ve always planned on selling my wedding dress, but the custom-rental option is also attractive because a few people have told me that it’s not a good idea to try to sell a pre-owned wedding dress if it doesn’t really have room to be altered, since your pool of potential customers gets really limited. I’m 5’6″, wear a size 0-2, and one of the dresses I’m considering buying is a runway sample from a trunk show I attended. I don’t think there is too much room to alter the dresses so they’re bigger, and I just feel like it might be very difficult to sell a pre-owned wedding dress with very little room for alteration. Has anyone had any experiences buying or selling a pre-owned wedding dress? Any thoughts on this?
