So I’m getting married 10-2-11 and havent even looked for my dress in the store yet, I’ve just recently lost 20lbs and want to lose at least another 30 before going to find dresses, I figured I’ll give myself till Mid May and regardless of where I’m at go and find my dress. Am I setting myself up for disaster or is a “rush” order REALLY a rush? I’ve been look at Maggie dresses because I just love the fact that she has dresses that aren’t completely covered in beading and everything I DON’T want in the shape I love. Thoughts bees?

Not sure if you have access to a shop like this, but I just ordered my second dress (yeah I’m a 2-dress bride) and I got my maggie dress from a small dress shop where you just buy the dress right then and there and they do alterations for you if you need. So they aren’t custom made for you, but with a corsette back and the ability to get alterations done, it’s not really like it will take all that much time. And it’s a much better option than having to rush order a dress. I bought my dress just 6 weeks out for my wedding. I am currently having it hemmed and bustled, and I’ll be good to go! An option like that (if you have a store like that) might give you some more time to get where you want to be fitness wise.
Just an idea! Good luck!

I was in your boat a year ago. 🙂 (Love your date!)
I was losing weight and nervous about going shopping and ordering.
All the shops pressured me to order early.
I placed my order the VERY end of May and my dress arrived in early July. I thought I was pushing it ordering in May, but it was totally fine. It was a Casablanca dress.
I was frustrated by the time I tried on my dress (in July) because I had lost a lot more weight than when I first tried on dresses (I think April was my first appointment). My shape had totally changed and think I would have been open to different silhouettes and possibly picked out a different dress altogether.
What I didn’t realize is how exhausting I’d find dress shopping. It was an ‘event’ to me and I needed breaks in between stores and just time to let my favorites sink in. That’s why I’d encourage you to at least start shopping a little earlier – even though your body is changing.
Edit: if I were to do it again – I’d actually shop later and PAY the rush. I’d just work it into my budget. I would have much preferred to start shopping in July, because by then, my body was closer to my goal weight.
