You look beautiful! I’ve always been told that don’t stress over pictures in the bridal shop because they arent taken in the right light and not by a professional.

I think you are very beautiful and the dress looks great! I would never guess that you are 5’1 from those photos!

@tjudd23: So here’s the deal. The salesman was totally wrong that all mermaid/fit and flares will make you look shorter.  You really just have to start trying on all different shapes and sizes to know! That being said, I think both the Allure and the Ariel are BEAUTIFUL on you, but the Ariel highlights your figure so much more!  I feel like you might be swallowed up by the sheer size of the skirt on the Allure…You’ve got plenty of time before your jan 2013 wedding, so I vote that you keep looking, and try on a bunch of dresses.  You can always sell the Allure if you need to!

Almost every consultant told me that mermaids were wrong for me (5’0), but they also told me drop waist gowns were wrong as well. I ended up with a mermaid, and your drop waist gown looks so perfect on you. Not stocky at all!

@pengoala: Always relieved to see someone say that about shorties and mermaids. 🙂

Wow! Both dresses are beautiful! I voted for the first one because it doesn’t make you look stocky at all and honestly (and I typically dislike princess dresses) that first dress looks SO amazing on you. You will look great in either, but since you already have one you shouldn’t worry about getting another if you love it (save the fabric, be nice to the earth! haha) good luck!

I needed to comment because I fell in love with the same exact two dresses!!! I loved the Ariel because it showed my figure off more, but the Allure is so majestic and princess-like.  (I was so confused I even tried on the knock-off Ariel at David’s Bridal- WG 3071, and thought maybe I would buy that and the Allure and just change half way through the reception!)  But to me , the grander the better for a gown.  I bought the Allure C170 and I am so happy that was my choice.  I think you should stick with it too – it is such a beautiful gown, you won’t regret it!!! 🙂

The dress you bought is 10x more dramatic and awe inspiring imo. You do not look stocky. You look BEAUTIFUL!! I mean your dress is unique and you look absolutely gorgeous in it!
