My dress arrived recently; I was so excited. It was lovingly dubbed “Favorite Dress” during all the dress shopping, and was the bar that no other dress was able to surpass. I love it! The Ella Rosa BE88. It does all sorts of good things for my body type! Almost everything! Almost.
The problem is my bust. My chest is very… generous, and the top of my dress can’t take the weight.
Out of necessity, I have all of my bras altered to fit me (once we get the cup size large enough, the bands are WAY to big; so they need to be taken in several inches). Anyone who’s looked up the dress can see that it’s strapless, so obviously my regular bras are out. Every bustiere I’ve tried buckles in the middle when I try to move, stabbing me in the stomach. I’ve worn corsets before, so I know how supportive they are; but I also know how restrictive they are and I really want to be able to move in my wedding dress. So I’m trying out a strapless. Here’s where it gets sticky…
In their current, unaltered state, the bra and the dress look awful together. Really awful. I’m scared to death that I won’t be able to make this combination work. I know they can trim down the bra cups, but I don’t know if it will be enough…
Should I be this worried about a dress I haven’t altered yet? Is there another option that I haven’t thought of?
