I’m 5’2” and ordered a dropwaist A-line. I tried on a bunch of ball gowns, but they just weren’t working for me lol

sarahbc13 :  Stunning. I think the OP would suit a dress like this too!

tillymac :  It’s probably only got online negativity because it is totally and utterly unfashionable right now! It’s just so 80’s. But putting that aside, it is a stunning dress and it makes YOU and your body look perfect. I’m sure you could have chosen a basic everyday lace a-line and looked more ‘2017’ but in 20 years’ time you’ll be more than glad you went with this one! I love it!

haileyblue :  In honesty I think 3 and 4 are a bit less flattering on you if you’re trying to look sleek and tall. You look great in all the dresses and 3 or 4 would look beautiful, but I prefer other styles for you.

#1 is adorable. It plays up the cuteness and doll-like aspect of being short and curvy, as well as being an all round gorgeous dress. I particularly like the tiny dip to the sweetheart neckline that is half way between sweetheart and straight- it really works on your body. You don’t look short, you look stunning.

#2 is also wonderful. It is a little more sophisticated than #1, and I like the sculpted bodice a lot that gives a corset feel, and it goes into a lovely flowy skirt. Also very flattering!

I’m short and curvy, average weight, and I wore a trumpet so in some photos it looks very mermaidy and in others in soft light it looks a bit more more ballgowny- a great compromise. I did wear huge heels and they were worth it. Ballgowns look good often on shorter women if they have a small waist so that would have been my second choice.

I LOVE the second one! I wore more of an A-line/flowy dress. Mermaids made me feel even shorter, as did big ball gowns.IMG_0502

I’m 5’2″ and was worried about height issues too, but as PP have said it’s more about your proportions! Once your alterations/hemming is done it all falls into place.

I wore a lace mermaid. One thing I loved about it was that it had some vertical stitching on the bodice which helped elongate my figure. The plain crepe Essence mermaid that you posted in your update was my second choice! Mine is the same shape, just lace.

And of course standing next to a 6-foot tall friend isn’t helping my height situation 😛

Im short! A whopping 5′ and I wore flats on my wedding day! I ended up going with a fitted vneck, low back dress. I was obsessed. I want to relive the special day so badly!
