I ordered my Pronovias dress in June 2010 for our late June 2011 wedding. When I ordered it, the consultant told me it should arrive between December and February (6-8 months). Since I haven’t heard anything, I called today to check on it and they said it’s scheduled to come in mid-April!
According to the lady I spoke with, the shop gives Pronovias the wedding date and they plan on sending it out two months before then. Does this sound right? Has anyone else been told this?
I know there is still enough time to get everything done, but we’re planning fairly extensive alterations to the top and I have to travel before the wedding, so I wanted it in earlier. Am I overreacting by being shocked at this?

It’s taking my dress about 10 months to come in but I think it’s because they put in the wedding date and then schedule it for a production time based on that. So, if you order a full year in advance of your date, they aren’t going to put it at the front of the line to be made.
If you have a lot of alterations to do, is there any way for your store to request it be rushed or moved up in production?
They should have communicated this to you in a better way… you’re not out of line to be shocked by something when you were told something else.

I recently bought my dress off the rack here in L.A. and the sales lady told me specifically that Pronovias takes longer than other manufacturers. I guess the silver lining is that you are getting a Pronovias gown so you get the quality vs. the speediness. For what it’s worth, I’ve never had a friend complain about the quality – they are impeccable and have a great reputation for quality.

Thanks, ladies! It definitely makes sense that they wouldn’t put my dress in front of others, but I was surprised when I heard mid-April, given that I’ve thought December – February for almost 10 months now. We are doing some fairly extensive alterations to the top and my wedding is in Texas (I live and bought the dress in SoCal), so I was hoping for more time, but I guess this will be okay.
Plus, I’ve been depriving myself of sweets recently in fear that my dress won’t fit when it arrives! Man, all of those goodies I could have had…

I ordered a Pronovias as well at the end of November. They estimated that it will arrive in April. I will check with them in April to find out. I hope it comes in April so I can check the dress off my to do list.

Quick update! I got a call from the dress shop today and they said my dress is scheduled to ship on February 15th, so I should have it by the end of the month. Thank goodness I asked if something could be done. 🙂 *Happy dance!*
