If you plan on ordering a dress, I would say 6 months, max. Even so, if I didn’t have my dress or have it ordered 6 months out, I would be a little nervous. Tongue out

I’d say if you are ordering a dress, you want to ORDER it at least 7 and a half months out.  Dresses take 4-6 months to come in and alterations take 4-6 weeks.

So, you should start looking for dresses soon so you can make a decision.  Once you’ve made your decision, you can wait a little bit before ordering the dress, but it took some of us longer to decide on our dress than others.  And you don’t want to feel rushed deciding on a dress.

I agree with texasmeredith.  Unless you are going to just buy a sample, you need to have at least 4 months for the dress to be made and shipped to your bridal shop.  Then you need at least a months time for alterations.  You can always buy a dress sooner and then have it altered down as you lose more weight.  But don’t buy a dress that is smaller just because you hope you will be smaller!

I suggest you at least go a couple of times to try on dresses now to get an idea of what you like. You can always wait to order it, but finding out what you really want and what looks best on you can sometimes be time consuming.
