Happy Friday Bees!! I purchased a wedding dress off preweddingdresses.com and the size and measurements (according to the seller) were the same as mine, so of course I took a chance and went ahead and paid for the dress… reasonable price and we are on a strict budget…(dont buy a piece of gum strict) and I love the dress….but anyway I thought I made the right choice…wrong! I had to go pick dress up and what do you know it is too small and I mean like 2-3 sizes to small. It has a corset back and yea no go right now. The bridal store cant help because I did not buy it directly from them. Wedding is in 43 days and noooo budget at all in no way for another dress and almost no room for alterations. We had a family emergency recently that dominated over wedding planning and now we are trying to make it work because everything is locked in and non refundable. Needed to vent….. I am sure there is no way suggestions for the risk I just took…omg

ModCloth? They have some gorgeous dresses at reasonable prices. Or ASOS has a wedding section too. You could also on-sell your current dress to help with the budget.

What parts are too small on you? If it’s just the corset back you might be able to get a layer of fabric sewn in so you don’t have to lace it up all the way. I don’t think it would be that costly.

churrosandroses : Thank you, I did not think of that. It is too small in the back where the corset is. It doesnt cover my back at all. It is a ballroom gown and everything else seems okay.

A seamstress might be able to extend the modesty panel but you would have to find fabric that matched it as close as possible. Or gusset panels but depending on the type of gown beading, lace, ruching etc. It might be too risky with such short notice.

Take it to a seamstress & show her your dilemma! They can do absolutely amazing things. They can def put a larger panel to cover your back with the corset gown! Don’t stress 😊👍🏼

HisMrs2017 : okay that sounds kind of easy to fix (I’m not a seamstress though so I can’t be sure). I would take it to a seamstress and see if she can have some fabric sewn in. What colour is your dress?

Your best bet is to find a seamstress that specializes in wedding dresses and or makes custom wedding dresses. They would probably have the know how or seen more of these situations and have a solid solution for you. Good luck bee!

HisMrs2017 : If alterations do not turn out. You could check out the formal/wedding section at JC Penneys. I think target has one too online(or they used to have wedding dresses but they were more like slip dresses), or Lulus.com.
