I realize this is #firstworldproblems, but I lost weight before the wedding and since my last dress fitting. I have a fitting this Saturday and then I pick up my dress on Thursday. I doubt I will be able to pack the pounds on by then. Do you think that a seamstress can make an additional alteration to my bodice between the third fitting and the final fitting?

I would think so. The reason they do all these fittings is so they can make alterations along the way so the dress fits perfect on your wedding day.

I’m sure it can be done. My SIL ordered a size 10 and lost a lot of weight before the wedding. Her dress was basically altered into a size 4/6 and it turned out just fine. I think a big part of it also has to do with the construction/material of the dress. A talented seamstress should be able to make it work.

Most dresses can be sized down again, depending on the amount of detail is involved, and it is definitely easier for them to take it in than let it out. Congrats on the weight loss, and hopefully everything comes out how you want!

Thanks! Phew. I had lost 12 lbs before the wedding already, and then through a mixture of marathon training, eating healthy (I’d been eating kind of junky befoore) and doing a vegan diet for two weeks to help support my Maid/Matron of Honor who is losing weight that way), I am now down almost 20. Gah! It’s awesome and i’m happy with my body- I had a bit to lose before. I really don’t want to have to gain it back!

I’m sure she can, but it may require additional fittings, and cost, since many seamstresses charge per hour.
