nani9 : That’s pretty much what this dress is! And honestly, some of the other dresses I saw and tried on at dress shops had comparable or poorer quality.
I would love to see a picture of you in your dress if you’re willing to share. Would love to see how you styled it.

Rachael1 : Sure, this picture is sitting down, but the lighting shows better detail. But you can see detail. I didnt style it much. Sometimes you dont need a lot. Even my husband doesnt have a tie.

vikingbride89 : Thank you so much! It was this dress from Lulu’s, believe it or not!

I couldn’t believe how much better their dresses were fitting me compared to other dresses I tried on. If I could do it again, I honestly wouldn’t have vistited dress shops at all. I would have just found returnable dresses online in my actual size and had a try-on party at home. It makes a lot more sense to me now than trying on the sample size and then waiting months for a dress to come in.

Rachael1 : Thanks, my shoes cost more than the dress, lol. Lulus worked for me. They fit well because they shape to your body. But, depending on body type, that can be a pro or con.

Can I bug you guys for some styling advice? Shoes? Hair? Stuff in the hair? Jewelry? I am really bad at this stuff and this dress is so basic that it doesn’t automatically call to mind a particular aesthetic. Re: shoes, I have very flat feet that turn inward so I can’t do heels over like an inch or so, and I can’t do mules or anything that lacks structure and support like that.

Rachael1 : Your new dress is perfection!! It’s understated, but fits you beautifully. Your figure looks amazing in it! I think a birdcage or elbow veil would look awesome with this dress. I’m always a fan of the loose updo, but you could totally pull off a side sweep or sleek french twist. Some fun colored shoes (maybe your something blue!) would look great, then I’d go with understated earrings and necklace. Maybe pearls if you have them.

Love it! You look stunning. Honestly I kind of wish I’d gone with a Lulus dress instead of the art deco-y one I ended up wearing.

Charliejeorge : Whoa, you’re good! Are you thinking shoes that offer some color (instead of just white or neutral) are best? Where did you find these shoes?
Earrings, necklace, both?
Is the birdcage veil too fancy for this dress? I love them, but I can’t decide.

Rachael1 : Yeah, I think a little color would be awesome! I found these on pinterest, I think the second, art deco-y pair were quite expensive ($300 ish?), but you may be able to find something a little less expensive. Check etsy! I dont think the birdcage is too fancy, I feel like I usually see bird cages with understated dresses. You may want one that doesnt have a big fascinator on it so its more understated, but I think it would look really pretty!

Charliejeorge : Thoughts on this one?

And do you dig any of these earrings for $60 or less? https://www.bhldn.com/shoes-accessories-jewelry-earrings/?cm_sp=LEFTNAV-_-SUB_CATEGORY-_-SHOESACCESS_JEWELRY_EARRINGS
Yowza to the $300 shoes. Do you think closed toe vs. open, or is that not important? I am the worst at this stuff and you seem really good at it. Thank you for helping me. 🙂
