Following my 7 month dress fiasco I FINALLY found the dress I wanted and I received it on October 31st only to find I could barely get it over my hips! Talk about a disappointment.
Well fast forward to this Saturday and a visit to the salon where I purchased it from and BAM!
I was able to get it over my hips and lace it up! This is what 8 1/2 lbs of weight loss will do for ya! I’m happy to report the alterations cost is minimal. It will be let out in the hips (you can see it buckling slightly), my belt applique will be attached, a 7 point bustle add (so I didnt hack off the train) and one layer of crinoline removed (you can see if falls much straighter instead of a “poof”).
I am so excited and wanted to share my joy after so many issues and disappointments with other dresses.
Do any of you bees know if I purchased Rago shapewear will that help any? I’m heavily considering it but dont want to waste $$ if I dont need it.

@CocoClassic: You look GREAT! I’m so glad things are working out for you!

@CocoClassic: That is such a beautiful dress! I love how flowy it is on the bottom!! The Rago might help (although I don’t think you need it) is there a lingerie shop in your area that sells it? We have one in my area that does and they let you bring the dress in and try it on with the shapewear so you don’t have to spend the money if it doesn’t help basically.

You look AMAZING! Congrats on your weight loss!
I don’t think I would wear shapewear to a late May wedding in Rio… I think you’ll melt!

@jessicadarling: Thank you. It was a long and unexpected journey because I thought the dress selection would be the easy part! WRONG lol.
@butterflywings: Uh-oh, you made me a little worried as I was simply going to order it online and not go to a store to get it, Is trying it on more recommended than ordering it online? I doubt I can return it but maybe I can use it for something else? Im still worried about the hip area as that was the trouble spot but I have never heard of “hip slimming shapewear”. UGH! Oh and thank you!
@BrandNewBride: Thank you very much. I printed this picture and taped it to my computer screen to keep the end goal in mind before I put that cookie or piece of cake in my mouth lol.
I was thinking it might help me with controling the sweat between my legs. While I had the dress on in the shop and she was doing the alteration markings I felt is rolling on down my thighs. I figured something to slim the waist, hips and thighs might be in order but def have to keep the sweat to a minimum.
If not shapewear any other recommendations???

@CocoClassic: Synthetic fabrics will make you weat more… You could look into getting a pair of running shorts! Those are moisture-wicking and good in heat. I’ve never seen them in nude, though…

@CocoClassic: I’m sorry I didn’t mean to worry you! I DO NOT THINK YOU NEED ANY SHAPEWEAR!!! (Not yelling at you) I just wanted to reassure you, you have a gorgeous body and look absolutely fabulous in the dress!!!
I just thought it might be an idea if you did want to try something on with your dress, to see if it makes any difference!! I hate buying stuff online especially if you can’t/don’t know if you can return it. And I would assume with under garments you can’t.
I’m not sure where you are in the D.C. but I found this site….
Not sure if it is a store or just online on, but it is about 50 mins from D.C (In Leesburg) So, that might be an option if you did want to check it out.
I’m so sorry I worried you! I honestly didn’t mean to!!

@BrandNewBride: Damn! The last thing I need is to sweat more! Thanks for the running shorts idea. I wear moisture wicking fabric when I work out so that may work.
@LMD: Thank you sooooo much! I love my dress too! The search to find it was well worth it. I still cannot believe I found it!
@butterflywings: Oh no! Dont trip, I was being slightly dramatic lol. I’m not worried so dont you worry! Thanks so much for the store recommendation. They are a bit far from me but if I make the trip in lets say March maybe. I should be good to go! They have lots of stuff AND they sell Rago (as you already know! so that’s fantastic! Plus it will give me a reason to shop a bit more because the Leesburg Outlet is fantastic!
