This is a vent to say how much I really hate House of Brides right now. On one hand, yes I purchased online, some of this is my fault. Yes, I purchased from them twice, again my fault. But something just needs to be said about how this company drives me insane.
I ordered my wedding dress, my bridesmaids dresses, and their shoes on the first order. My dress arrived, and it was beautiful. But that was one of their sample sales, which was in stock at the time. I was so happy it was cheap, it is beautiful, and joy it was here 8 months before the wedding. But the bridesmaid dresses and shoes needed to be ordered, weren’t in stock, would take longer, etc. Which I was okay with, it took them 2 weeks to get me my wedding dress, they could wait the normal 8 weeks for theirs. The dresses were scheduled to arrive around Christmas, but they didn’t. i waited, I waited, I called, I got that they would get back to me, I waited, I heard nothing, I called, etc. for 4 Months, then poof the dresses arrived.
Only….no shoes. So I called, I was told they would get back to me, I waited 10 days, I heard nothing, I called back, I was told they would contact me back….I have been waiting for over 7 months for a pair of shoes that takes “6 to 8 weeks”. Which, shoes for the bridesmaids can be found elsewhere, not a crisis, just REALLY annoying. So yes, I have my dress, YAY!, I have my bridesmaid dresses, YAY!, now for order problem #2.
My mother, my sister, and my flower girl orderer their dresses through me through house of brides. We paid a special rush fee, to make sure the dresses arrive with plenty of time for them to get any alterations before traveling for my Out of Town wedding. This rush fee was EXPENSIVE for all of the items. But to get the dresses in 6 weeks is worth it. That was 10 weeks ago. I call them to ask when they will ship, they say, well we don’t know yet, soon. I paid a rush fee so the dresses would be there no latter than 6 weeks, it’s been 10, and I get “I don’t know, call back in a week”. Oh boy!
This is not counting the special “extra” custom fee of over $150. When they shipped my dress, they said it was for all three dresses, and two pairs of shoes, I paid all the fees. When they shipped the bridesmaids dresses, it was packaged the same way, I paid all the fees….AGAIN. They said they would refund my fee….10 days ago, no action with my bank, no confirmation of when to expect it. But “Debbie in customer service will get in touch with you in 48 hours!”.
I know this is wedding season, I know that sometimes things run late, and I know that no matter how many times I call they may not have an answer for me. But I feel when things are late, and I mean almost twice the shipping time, or more, you owe your customer more than “I don’t know”.
I will visit my mother for Easter, and I had hoped I would get to see all the dresses then, but it doesn’t look that way. To any bride with 2 years to their wedding and LOVE a dress for cheap on house of brides, go for it I guess, all the dresses have been beautiful. For any bride shopping three months from their wedding thinking “oh 4 to 6 week still gives me plenty of time” OH no it doesn’t girlfriend.
