well  The good news is that you didn’t notice it until somebody showed you what it originally looked like. I mean if I  had ordered a dress in a different color I probably would have noticed if it had arrived in anything but that color…but that’s just me me!

As for getting a discount or some kind of compensation for their error,  I would definitely attempt  to get a discount because that is a huge error on their part and as a bridal salon they should be paying more attention to what they’re ordering. Could you possibly post a photo of the dress? Maybe it’s not that bad!

Are you sure it’s the wrong color?  It’s not unheard of that women order sample dresses in “white” when in fact the sample has turned a softer/creamier color because of use so they freak out when they see it in its pristine color.

Yes, definitely different! A polite tone of voice with a firm message is what you need. You are not a bridezilla for wanting the dress you actually chose, ordered and paid for. Be firm but polite, look carefully over your paperwork and be conversant with what each persons responsibility is under the contract/ sales agreement. You should get the dress you ordered Or they should be prepared to find a solution.

Take someone with you that’s really good at this kind of thing. Is it a chain store? If so, twitter is your best friend.

jnmaes26:  I would be upset! While the dress that arrived is lovely, the dress you chose is unique and has more character. if you feel like you might cave, bring in a tough, articulate friend who won’t be so stressed out and who will be able to speak up for you!

oh yeah, that lace definitely changes color.  Ignore me. 🙂

I hope they don’t give you a problem!

I am a bit of a pushover sometimes too, so I get you! Try to pretend you’re someone else who is great at this stuff! Take a deep breath and tell yourself that you will be assertive for the duration of the conversation and remind yourself that after this is sorted you never have to see them again. Stay calm and polite but show them that you won’t be walked over.

Decide ahead of speaking to them what you will say and what you want – firstly, can they get you the right dress? Do they have your size in another shop? Can they rush order it? If that is impossible ask for a discount. Start high (you may as well try!) and have a pre-decided bottom line that you will refuse to go below. Check any paperwork you have for evidence of the colour you ordered. Good luck!

Looks the same to me?  I thought it was going to be pink or something.  I’d maybe talk to them about a discount because of the mistake, but it’s really not noticeable so there’s no need to freak out over it

ETA: Okay, I see what you mean about the ombre.  Its still looks completely fine though, nobody is going to notice because it’s lovely as it is

honestly I don’t think the difference in color is worth the amount of stress involved with trying to get it fixed. It’s so minor that had you not pointed it out I wouldn’t have ever noticed. In fact, I dont’ think the gold is noticeable enough for me to have even known it was gold if you hadn’t said it was gold. At least in pictures. You look gorgeous in the dress regardless of the color 🙂

I would just see what the shop says, it’s their mistake so they should do something to try and make it right or compensate you for the error.

jnmaes26:  how long ago did you pick the dress up? Because you said you didn’t notice until your final fitting. I’m asking because while the store might have done something for you if you mentioned it when you went to pick it up, if it’s been a while, I doubt it. It seems a bit shady amd strange (not saying you’re being shady, but just that from the store’s perspective) to be going back months later saying its the wrong color. Their liability is typically done once you sign and pick up the dress.

ilovesophia:  She just had her first fitting, not her final one.

jnmaes26:  I hope you can find a solution you are happy with, but honestly I can’t really tell the difference. It just looks like a difference in lighting to me in those pictures. It’s still a gorgeous dress that looks great on you!
