Oh it is WONDERFUL, if I hadn’t have had my dress (which was nothing like it by the way) I would have choosen that, it is stunning, such a beautiful colour, I love the ruffle by the waist and the big dress, go for it!

@Christy42213: I’m curious what exactly the symbolism of a wedding dress is, that clashes so badly with a cardigan?

@Hermoine: Thanks! I probably won’t do a super big dress since our wedding will be at a campground and I don’t want to be uncomfortable or light my dress on fire while roasting marshmallows! I love the purple cardigan though. I’m probably going to have a mostly green bouquet since those will probably be my colors. I’m super excited!

@bellasmum: Thanks for the tips. I’m going to do a light purple (like lavender) and it will be a bit longer like the one in the picture but I’m definitely going to tie it with a sash or ribbon like the on in the image that matches the cardigan color.

@nattiejeanne: i love the idea of a cardigan with your dress. very cute 🙂

I think the dress you posted would look lovely with a cardigan, but I don’t think the one you posted is necessarily the right cardigan to do the job. I imagine something a bit shorter and just a tad more formal than that boyfriend style cardigan.

@nattiejeanne: I think the idea is soooo cute and different. I love the ideas you have for your wedding and if I wasn’t the glitter blingy girlie girl that I am I would so go with most of the ideas you have for your wedding. I like when people do something different and don’t follow the “rules” that others try to make you stick to just because its a wedding. Everyone have their own taste and even if our don’t agree with their doesn’t mean it’s still not a fantastic look/idea.
Okay now that out my system… The look will be great if as some of PP said your find the right cardigan and accessories to dress it up a bit. I honestly dont think you have to “match ” your FH but they should blend and work well together i.e not be too casual. If your not a blingy girl which I’m thinking your not you can do nice earthy accesseries but are still in the dressy side. Dessy flats or wedges since your dress is short and honestly I wouldn’t have you in a blingy glittery sash because I love the clean, simpliness of the satin ribbon.

I wore a cardigan with mine! I think it’s key to get the tailoring right to match your dress. My dress had a natural wasteline so I got a shorter cardigan that stopped there. You could also do a tie at the waistline like in the inspiration photo. It looked great!

@242beauty: I’m thinking doing a satin sash that matches the cardigan as a belt/bow, and matching flats, but the satin looking kind, not cloth ones. I will probably do some nice dangly earrings that are silver, and some type of dressy necklace.

As long as it fits in to the waist, it will look great. You have said you’re going to do a sash around your waist, so it will fit. Your dress has such a nice waistline to it, you don’t want to lose that feature.
A sparkly necklace or earrings, or even a beautiful brooch would look beautiful. Or you could have a flowers on the sash.
It looks like it will be beautiful, but comfortable. And perfect for your venue.

Sorry, no. Wrong kind of cardigan. That’s the kind you’d wear with jeans, not a wedding gown. Find one more like your inspiration picture. Short, pretty, and flirty.
