My dress is pretty simple. I don’t wear a lot of bling IRL and I wanted something with a very slim silhouette.

Beautiful dresses!!

I went into dress shopping knowing I wanted simple.  I don’t really like a lot of bling and beading makes me worry that the beads will come off!  I thought I wanted a mermaid/fit and flare silouette, and I found this dress that I loved…

I had also found another dress that I loved just as much. After weeks of contemplating and Fiance making comments while being forced to watch “SYTTD” with me about dresses making people look like fish or cupcakes, I decided that while I love this dress now, 10 years from now I didn’t want to look back and cringe at my wedding photos–or be scared to show them to my future kids!! So I went with the other dress I found that was more classic and elegant…

I’m planning on doing a statement necklace for the reception.

well At first I thought I wanted lace – kinda classic and simple. then the more I  tried on I understood I dont like lace that much. So and this is what I got – no lace at all. But I would consider that I stayed also somewhere in the middle  – nothing too dramatic but with some accents πŸ™‚

I knew I wanted something on the simpler side (no beading, no ballgown, etc), but I didn’t want it to be completely plain either. I actually had a seamstress at a bridal shop tell me I’m looking for a style of dress that brides only get for their 2nd marriage (still can’t believe she said that to me!).

I ended up going with this dress in the very light blush:

I love that the dress itself isn’t over the top, but definitely isn’t boring either.

@futuremrs1986:  Oh darling do not get me started. I dreamt of a simple slim organza a line with a pretty sparkly belt…and I ended up with a tight mermaid with fans at the bottom! Who knew? I figured, if I can’t look over the top & border line gaudy on my wedding day…when will I? πŸ˜›

Go try dress on and see how you feel and most of all , have fun! πŸ™‚

@badabing88:  You look awesomeee!! Did it finally come in, or is this the sample? I love the blingy top! πŸ™‚

I went with a more extravagant dress than I originally planned on. All the simple a-lines and plain-skirted mermaids I tried on just didnt give me that “bridal” feeling. When are you ever going to get to wear a dress like that again? You may as well stand out on your wedding day!

For reference, I am 5’5 and a size 4. Here is the dress I chose. Having the top flower removed to emphasize the drop waist.

I went with more elaborate – in terms of volume.  I initially wanted lace mermaid, so this was a big shift for me.  I still love it though! No dress regret here!

I went simple with mine.  I didn’t want a super dramatic dress because that’s not who I am in real life.  I love to dress nice, but I didn’t want to be different than who I am every day.
