I wanted a lace, possibly fluffy dress, but ended up falling for this simple chiffon a-line dress! I paid around $300 for it. My suggestion: check out bridesmaids dresses you can order in white! By doing that, I saved over $200 from my second-choice bridal gown.

This is mine! I used a discounted anthropologie gift card toward it (got it on cardcash) and my dress ended up being only $200. 🙂 Its not big and fluffy but perfect for my sunday morning brunch wedding!

alessia :  If you’re not opposed to wearing a secondhand or sample dress, I’d strongly encourage checking out StillWhite.com or Preownedweddingdresses.com. I bought my gown on the latter — it was a very intricate satin and lace gown with a long cathedral style train originally $1,500 — I purchased an unworn sample one size too large for $600! You can find some really amazing deals across those sites and keep in mind alterations (if you are choosing to have them) will give you the perfect fit.

Two other sites are OnceWed and Tradesy, but in my experience there were more options and better filtering on StillWhite and Preowned.

Just attaching a picture of my dress for reference now. You can absolutely get a gown that suits you secondhand or custom made for less than $600. Good luck and let us know how the hunt goes!

I have to tell you I have heard great stories and also seen tears of great anguish about Etsy and some othe online bridal stores.  Dresses not fitting, not looking close to the photos, even odd colors and poor workmanship.  So unless you have the time and willing to risk the  money those onlline deals may not be worth the stress on such a special day. That being said you can always count on David’s ridal having soem reasonable dresses under $600 and even some around 100.  As well a lot of bridal salons will ahve clearnace  dresses under 600 including around 200.    This is before even looking at second hand dresses.

alessia :  I am unable to upload a photo but I bought a beautiful dress for $300 (strapless, shirring on bottom) at a bridal consignment store, it was new.  I then changed my mind (hey it is a woman’s choice!) and went for a more informal dress off Amazon……$60, free shipping.
