So I came acroos the San Patrick Capricho wedding dress and I loved it. After a lot of research on this board and others I thought I would go with Dressilyme. I sent in this pic:
Dressilyme said they would be able to make it and they gave me a quote of $309 which I was happy with. After paying for it I made a rquest that I would like to see the finished dress before shipping, and Paris, the lady I was dealing with told me that they do not have that service, and since its their busy season they wont be able to do it. I was dissapointed, knowing from this forum that they do that for other customers. Anyway, I left it at that.
But later on while still looking around for their work, I found the picture below of their dress on Flickr:
Now I dont like this dress on Flickr, I’m panicking because its kind of similar to the San Patrick dress, I’m just hoping that they were not trying to replicate the Capricho dress!! I am in panic mode right now because I dont know what to do if my dress turns out like the one above!! I think its horrible!! 🙁
Jasmine’s bridal store on the othr hand made a replicate of the Capricho dress and its gorgeous:
Now I’m really wishing I would have gone with Jasmine’s although I would have paid a couple of 100 dollars more, but it woul be worth it!!
Now the thing is since the Dressilyme dress is a custom one its not covered by their return policy, and in that case they would have at least agreed to let me see the finished dress before dispatch so that we can sort out any issues it may have 🙁
I’m on a tight budget! it will be a disaster if my dress turns out bad..What do I do!! Panic mode!!

If the dress turns out badly, I would take it to a seamstress to see if its fixable. I actually don’t think the picture you found looks that bad compared to a lot of the replicas I’ve seen online. Worst case scenario, if it’s hideous and unfixable, I would suggest browsing some of the used wedding dress websites. That’s where I found mine, and it was actually brand new!! Good luck! Definitely post pics of the dress when you get it for honest feedback. Fingers crossed!!

Fingers crossed indeed!! I dont like how the ruffls on the dress on Flickr seem like they are all over the place…but oh well, lets hope for the best!! I have 3 more weeks until the dress gets here (i think), I will definitely upload the pics!

I’m fixing to order my dress with Dressilyme and this no pics before shipping ordeal totally stresses me out. I was hoping that sending confirmation pictures was standard.
I’m planning on telling them that I’m willing to wait longer for my dress as long as I can see photos before shipment.
Since your wedding isn’t until Dec. 2012 have you considered asking if they would send you pictures if you gave them more production time?

I wish you the best of luck with this; I got two dresses from Dressilyme, neither of which worked out! Here is my original post with dress: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/its-official-ive-ordered-a-dress. I never posted about about the second dress. I had it with them! I will hazard a guess to say that the dress you will get from Dressilyme will probably look fairly similar to the Flikr dress. I’m saying this based on your observation that the dress is very similar to the you ordered. One of the reasons that the designer dresses look the way they do is the quality of fabric- you definitely get what you pay for, real silk lays and photographs differently than inexpensive organza for example. I think with Jasmine’s they give you the option of upgrading things like the fabric, Dressilyme doesn’t have the same options. Lots of people have had success with Dressilyme, and they expect that the fabric will not be of the same quality as the “real thing”, but they’re ok with that. Most of us are on a budget after all. I would suggest you do what the previous poster said and let them know you’re willing to wait longer if you can see pictures before they ship. Good luck and I really do hope yours turns out well!

I was personally involved in the making of that Capricho dress, and here is my advice: tell them to use organza-satin instead of regular organza, and really spend time on the ruffles of the skirt & train. Spend only half of a day or a day on the skirt & train won’t achieve excellent results, it takes time to figure out the original structure and replicate against the original photos very carefully – remember that the replicators have no blue prints of the original and everything has to be figured out from the photos alone. But then again, this is tied to the cost of making the dress and the price the vendor charges… There is no magic in dress making, it really involves a lot of hard work.
Dressilyme is actually doing an amazing job with the low prices they charge. I salute them for that, honestly 🙂

@Designed2Wed: I know! I really thought it was standard too for them to send pics for the customer’s approval. I will suggest giving them more production time as long as I’m able to see pics of the dress before they send it to me.
@SugerPlum: I’m sorry about your dress!! And I thought I’d done my homework on Dressilyme!! LOL I’ll keep you all posted on what’s happening with my dress!!
@JasminesBridal: Thanks for the advice! really appreciate it!

I ordered my “trash the dress” dress from Dressilyme. I couldn’t bear the thought of wearing my lace Alvina Valenta dress in the water, so I ordered a replica of a Romona Keveza dress.
While the dress fits me amazingly and looks very close to the original I tried on, there are obvious issues with the quality of the sewng, construction etc… I’m okay with it because it’s just for a photoshoot to wear in the water, sand etc… If it HAD been my actual wedding dress, I would have been very upset.
I hate to say this to you but I personally would not trust them to do my wedding dress for the actual ceremony or anything like that. For a reception dress or anything else, it would probably be fine.
Maybe I’m just a little picky but I think you’ll be a little disappointed by the quality.
Sorry 🙁 Just my two cents.

@Negrilbride: Oh no! How come I saw nothing but positive reviews of Dressilyme when I was doing my research!! LOL Oh gosh this isn’t good at all! 🙁 🙁 🙁 well now we wait and see how bad it is

I, too, have been doing my research & hadn’t seen any Dressilyme negatives until now. But I don’t think that the dress you found on Flickr is going to be what they submit as yours. I’ve heard so many good things about them, that I doubt they’d be that different. But, as others suggested, I would insist on them taking their time & sending photos before shipping.
Please keep us posted! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I totally understand your anxiety. I ordered from Dressilyme, also. Before ordering I didn’t find a single negative comment. After paying for the dress, I found a few bad reviews that sent me into painc mode.
I’ve been very hesitant to comment on this post because I’m fairly certain that dress you found on flickr that you think is so horrible…may be my Dressilyme dress! I have not gotten any pictures from Dressilyme yet so I can’t be certain but this does appear to be what I asked for. Dressilyme had told me that they had not made the dress I requested before so I can only assume this is mine.
If this is the case, let me say that dress is most definitely not the San Patrick. My dress was supposed to be a replica of a dress by Private Label by G. If the Flickr dress is indeed my dress, then honestly it is very similar to the original. The ruffles are not exactly the same. The original dress had a more defined pattern of ruffles that flowed horiztonally and asymetrically. However, considering that I’m only paying $300 for a $2000 dress, I’m pleased with the dress…if this is mine.

@Dandelion D: Hi! The dresses on Flickr were uploaded last year! So if you ordered this year I don’t think thats your dress. But if it is your dress I’m really sorry I really do hope I didn’t offend you or anyone! The dress is alright, but I was just trying to say that if its a replica of the Capricho dress or something like that it’s a poor replica.

Well I dont think anyone should panic! Untill you actually see your dress and try it on and steam it you cant make judjment. THe thing is the pictures of those dresses made under terriable light and they are not steamed and NOT on the person which doesnt make their appearance flattering. I think the dress form FLick is very pretty and I do think it is close to an original. YOu cant expect identical but I can see that if it fits right and is steamed it will look amazing!!!
JUst my 2 cents on it.

@zeland2012: You didn’t offend me at all! Not everyone likes everyone else’s choice and that’s totally fine. I’m actually really glad you posted it because it made me feel better about my order!! The intention of my post was just to let you know that it probably isn’t a replica of your dress.

That’s really odd, I asked them about the pictures, they said no problem. I originally had Paris as well, but the person who actually sent the pictures to me is Karen, and she is very responsive and professional.
Try this email for a change if your dress hasn’t been shipped, hopefully they will send you picture. Good luck.
